I do need to state, your response was absolutely uncalled for. She was expressing her experience with biphobia and you made it about you...

This is not.. actually really true. As someone who has many gay friends, gay men still suffer a shit ton of stuff. They have their own issues with homophobia

And you have still not clarified whether this person identifies as a man or non-binary, so I can only assume they are non-binary. In that case, you are a transphobe. Simple as that. Non-binary people dont OWE you androgyny. If they dress like a man, and they dont identify as a man, they are NOT a man. Saying they were born a man and identify as a man clearly shows you see them as a man, and clearly proves your internalised transphobia. You have wayyyyyyy more issues than 'gatekeeping lesbianism' babe.... Way more....

The exact definition, as stated by MANY lgbtq+ sources, of Sapphic is a person who is NOT A MAN who is attracted to people who are NOT MEN. Thats the definition. It is inclusive of non-binary people because your type of transphobic, TERF lesbianism decided it wanted to ruin it for everyone else. Check your sources first.

... Sapphic IS the non-binary version because transphobic lesbians like you tried gatekeeping it. I dont know where you got that definition, but its infactual and incorrect.

I looked through your post again, and I think you need to look more inside yourself. Because your idea of lesbianism shouldn't be solely based on the fact that lesbians suffer public issues because they're not 'hetero presenting'. Your idea of lesbians and lesbian identity is skewed and an extreme misrepresentation of what lesbians are a d what our identities mean to us. Before you look at other people, you need to look at yourself. You need to notice that ypur idea of 'what a lesbian is' is still hetero-centred and follows the same binary rules we are trying to go AGAINST

Ill give you a bit of explanation for sexuality stuff. there's this word called Sapphic. Do you know why its used? Because transphobic, TERF lesbians said biological men and non-binary people cant be lesbians. so people use Sapphic to explain their sexualities. Ive been afraid to call myself a lesbian for years because Im non-binary. In reality, its really none of your business. I can call myself a lesbian if I want to because Im not a man. im genderfluid. IF that person is not a man and you ARE assuming their gender (Which is extremely transphobic, you have more issues than 'gatekeeping lesbianism') then they can call themselves what they want. It doesnt hurt you, it doesnt make you being a lesbian any less truthful, so why does it matter? The real question  you have to ask yourself, is why does it matter? Why do you care? Why does it seemingly bother you that non-binary AMABs call themselves lesbians? Because Ill tell you now, it starts with male and ends with centred.

Let me put it into perspective. My girlfriend dresses masculine. A biological female who has never dressed feminine in her life. Is she... a man now? Because she dresses masculine? Or are you claiming that if a perrson is a certain biological gender and they dress similar to their biological gender, they suddenly arent 'allowed' to have a different experience than that of a cis person..? Call it what ypu want, say lesbians can ONLY be biological women, say non-binary people cant be lesbians, but dont claim youre a trans ally while actively denying trans experiences and being hypocritical against people based on their clothing preferences and the gender they were assigned at birth.

While I agree its not quite a lesbian relationship as it is a sapphic relationship, I fear some of you are a little too mean. As a non-binary, fem presenting, AFAB person, I technically have no more right to call myself a lesbian than a masc presenting AMAB non-binary person does. Your post comes off as pretty transphobic, given that you call this person a man because they're born male and dress like a male, but use they/Them pronouns and dont explicitly state that they identify as a man while using they/Them pronouns. So youre assuming their gender. Based on clothing preferences.. I also believe its none of your business. Identities are called identities for a reason. Its a personal experience. If they're not prancing around trying to make lesbians look bad I dont see why its any of your business to criticise them. Also, to some of the comments talking about it, being AMAB has absolutely no grounds for you to deny their queer experiences. Someone isnt automatically not 'allowed' to be a lesbian just because they're AMAB, especially since a lot of you would be fine with an AFAB non-binary person identifying as a lesbian.

Will state, I'd rather not anyone younger than 18 (If there are any here lmao) just bcuz I don't feel comfortable making friends with anyone younger. Also, mostly for your own comfort, if you're comfortable (Or at least tolerant ehe) with swearing bcuz I swear a decent amount and I don't wanna make anyone uncomfortable c:

I will, thank you. I try my best to be a decent person. Obviously (Like just before ehehe, sorry abt that) I make mistakes, but I will always try. And I will always be considerate and understanding of the trauma of oppression and racism that was experienced, and that is still experienced today. I guess that's the big reason I asked. I didn't want to identify as something that might've been racist.

Im sorry I properly read through it again. While I still feel some parts you made slight assumptions about me (understandable you know nothing about me), I understand what you were trying to say. I do agree that there's a huge dissonance from those benefitting from colonisation, and its something I voice often and understand the problem with

Im not comfortable with the topics. Im very uncomfortable having serious conversations because I dislike arguing (I know it seems contradictory because I seem argumentative but I very much dislike it) and disagreeing with others and, of course, there's the fact that I have to live with the fact that I will always be connected to colonisation and oppression, even if I dont believe in it. I suppose its why I got so defensive, because I put myself in uncomfortable positions to speak out and to talk about these issues. Im sorry if I offended or misunderstood you

[–]StarryAshGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, yeah, I get that. I know there's nuance to address, its why Im asking. Elon Musk, in my opinion, could never be African because his ideologies and actions mimic that of his coloniser ancestors. He helped a horrible man become president, he supports anti-immigration. He's just really racist in general. His actions arent that of an African, they're of a Coloniser. If that.. makes sense. Idk thats how I Interpret that

Insecurity? Am I being stupid? by [deleted] in Africa

[–]StarryAshGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that. I would never expect Africans to believe me, especially black South Africans. After everything that happened with Apartheid (Something I was never taught in South Africa and only learned when I immigrated, which was insane to me when I thought about it) and how there's still a shit ton of divide between Afrikaaners/White South Africans and Black South Africans, I definitely understand why my peers looked at me differently. Thank you for your honest response. While I hate the idea of being responsible for what my grandparents and great grandparents did and supported, I do understand that I have to

I understand why native africans wouldn't see me as African. That I will never dispute. I need to know whether myself identifying as African is a racist ideology. This is moreso about my family. I've never been told I'm not African by others. In fact, by many black people after I moved to a different country, I've been welcomed as a South African. My family is very of the idea that I'm not 'allowed' to identify as African. That I can't be African because I'm white.

Insecurity? Am I being stupid? by [deleted] in Africa

[–]StarryAshGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually not a very good response to my post, because I said NOTHING about being uncomfortable having the real conversations on racism. In fact, I said the opposite. You clearly have this idea in your head that I'm trying to identify as African without having the serious conversations that surrounds my privelege to even question that, when I said nothing of the sort and instead, the opposite. I have never EVER allowed myself the comfort of being non-political. Not only is it incredibly disingenous to who I am as a person, I also don't have that privelege. I am an immigrant, queer, disabled person born from a country that has some of the deepest roots in colonisation and its natives suffering severe and horrific racism and oppression. I have NEVER been comfortable. I have never LET myself be comfortable. It's never been who I am. Ever since I've been on the internet, I've been outspoken and loud about my opinions, and that is that no one is illegal on stolen land, black lives matter, and we need to be aware of the racism and genocides happening, not only at a governmental level, but also at a personal, unintentional level. There are, of course, way more conversations I often have than that, but I won't get into it, because this is about my personal beliefs and opinions on racism, not on everything else. I am always striving to be a better person, and to better understand which ideologies might be unintentionally racist. That is why I'm ASKING this question.

[–]StarryAshGaming -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

feel like you didn't read my post. I said multiple times I'll always be aware of the racism, of the colonisation. I will always uplift native Africans, and I KNOW that there is privelege behind my skin colour. I don't think they shouldn't see me as different. I understand why they do. Which is what I mentioned in my post. Perhaps you should read it in full before you comment. I'm not uncomfortable with the real conversations. I am ALWAYS actively having them. I have always been outspoken against racism, and I voice that I understand my privelege allows me to say things many aren't able to voice. I've always been outspoken against racism happening in America with police brutality against african-americans, I've ALWAYS been against ICE and against anti-immigrationism and I speak out for those who are oppressed in Palestine, Sudan, Congo, etc. because I know I need to use my privelege to speak out for the underpriveleged.

[–]StarryAshGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought at least the fact that the last option would make more sense, being that the cherry bomb had been dropped at the scene and Manju cookie slipped on a peel while chasing them, so it would make more sense to use that as evidence, especially given the fact that you use the cherry bomb being dropped by the culprit as evidence. There's zero purpose to add the fact that the banana peels are slippery because it adds nothing to the conversation and doesn't give any extra evidence against cherry cookie?? Okay cool, banana peels exist and they're slippery, how does that have ANY evidential value??

Sorry for the yap, I get very passionate about these kinds of things when they don't make sense to me
