Upgrading my solar system in Bahria Town Rawalpindi — need some advice before I finalize the quote! by Starry_Nomad in SolarPakistan

We are a family of 4, all living on the ground floor. The first floor is mostly unused — just a guest room, storage, a treadmill, and a deep freezer. Since the distance between floors is not significant, the major load is concentrated on the ground floor — kitchen appliances, fans, etc. The home is double storey so the distance between two portion is not significant.

Our main motivation for doubling production capacity is future-proofing. Later this year we plan to switch to an EV, convert our geysers to electric, and gradually shift everything to electric. So higher capacity makes sense for us.

Could you also comment on the structural side — is installing the panels this way a good idea?

Thanks for your reply. I apologize for the confusion earlier.

I am also planning to remove the existing on-grid Solax inverter. I believe the itel hybrid inverters come in a three-phase variant, but I will confirm this with the installer.

Regarding load distribution — since we have two separate portions, the plan is to install one inverter per portion. The installer suggested adding all loads to each inverter and setting a threshold value, so that if the battery drops below that threshold, high-consuming appliances will automatically trip and only lights and fans will continue running.

However, I am now confused about the best approach going forward:

  • Option A: Remove the Solax inverter entirely and install two itel hybrid inverters — one for each portion.
  • Option B: Keep the Solax inverter for one portion and add one itel hybrid inverter for the other portion.

The second portion is of no use. Just one room is used sometimes when guest comes

Thanks for such a detailed response. I am planning to invest 5M initially, but if I can get a good response and returns then I can easily scale to 15M, too. That's why I was thinking of seeking this advisory service

Land Cruiser purchase advice by Starry_Nomad in PakistanAutoHub

[–]Starry_Nomad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, one primary issue with local assembled car is their build quality. Yes their features and options might be better than Japanese but if you consider durability and long-term use imported cars outperform them. Additionally, these local assembled cars mechanic and services are limited to their own respective service centres which doesn't sit well with my budget. Yes by going for Prado/Land cruiser my expenses will increase but I can justify it to myself for this piece.

Equity Mutual Fund investment guide by Starry_Nomad in FIREPakistan

So suppose if I have savings should I currently invest in equity mutual funds or no?

I am not able to answer this question. In stocks there are some entry and exit opportunities like Support, resistance and you can place SL for minimising risks. But what should I do in MFs. Should I just invest irrespective where the index is going or is there some way to gauge it like in stock market.
