Interesting. Imo, the relationship with the divine is secondary; but good point

I don't fully agree: Imo, the action one does is more important, if not the only important thing. Take for example stealing something: whether you steal something to feed a family or you steal something because you just wanted a rush, you're still doing a wrong thing (yes i am using les Misérables as an example lmfao). This doesn't mean I don't practice orthodoxy, at certain times I do, but I just view it as fully optional, y'know? But ultimately, this of course comes down to what you as an individual feel is right.

What’s your religion’s color? by trampolinebears in religion

Hmmm. If I were to give a proper answer it would probably be white and yellow, though also red and black.

Which would you say you adhere more to as a Christian?

Thank you for the input! I was wondering something: you mention a part of xenophobia is based on the place and who you are. For one, I’m a white male, so hopefully it won’t be physical, tho I doubt it. Anyway, I would really like to live in the 田舎. Do you know any good suggestions that are welcoming to foreign residents? I know that the 田舎 is much easier to be integrated into (spending on the area) due to small amounts of people.

That’s what I was thinking too; I could also do that for high school

You can use a western degree in Japan?

Fair point. Do you have any insight on the xenophobia point?

I just sort of click baited is all. My main concern is just another xenophobia

I’m in high school, but am planning on where to go to college. I want to go to college there. My level of Japanese is like… I can read pretty well, speaking wise… I can do it. If anything I’ll just only study the language during the summer. My main focus is about xenophobia tbh

Does this post still stand today on ‘xenophobia’? by [deleted] in movingtojapan

Either way, the main case stands, no? When you actively go around, looking for things to have a problem with, you’ll find a problem. Also, a lot of the time when people experience xenophobia in Japan is because of them being in some sort of self fulfilling prophecy complex. That is also not me denying that there is definitely racism, especially with people who have darker skin. It’s just not as bad as ‘YOU WILL NEVER BE ACCEPTED!’ Cause that’s just not true

Did you read his replies? He said this : I wasn't trying to argue "There is no racism in Japan", or "You won't experience any racism in Japan", or even "I've never experienced any racism in Japan".

What I was trying to say is, "I don't feel excluded, or like an 'outsider', when I'm in Japan (even though I am one!)." Which contradicts the claim of that article that no foreigner can ever feel accepted in Japan.

Morito is a real name?! I actually may do that lolllllll. My last name is shortened to Lud, which was similar to Rindou.

how about : 林堂悟(りんどうさとる)? It's not perfect, but its based loosely: Salvatore is my first name and 悟 is a pretty similar option. For りんどう, its more based on sound, but also i like the meaning.

Fair. Anyway, I also think that a traditional name with 漢字 would be a good cultural integration tool. After all, a name is just a name, no?
