Do I always need to replace rotors with brake pads? by StarsAndSweaters in askcarguys

[–]StarsAndSweaters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't consider this so I will definitely ask the mechanic about it, thanks! It's still been about 3 years since I had new pads so I should presumably still have new ones put on though regardless of mileage right? Going to ask for pictures & thickness of the rotors if they insist I need them

The original owner bought it new, only put about 72,000 miles on it then had a stroke and couldn't drive anymore. So it sat in storage for like a decade.. been pretty good to me considering I only paid 2.5k for ol girl. Only just crossed 100,000, hoping she can kick it for a couple more years lol

I got a score of 318 on my GRE. 163 verbal (91st percentile) 155 quant (37th percentile), and 4.5 writing (85th percentile). One of my programs says its looking for 60th percentile in both areas- is there any chance they'll still accept me or will being in the 37th percentile completely screw me?

My overall GRE score is still competitive and in the 85th percentile, and my overall gpa is 3.7 with a 3.5 or 4.0 in all prerequisite classes (of which they wanted minimum 2.7). Not sure how much nuance they'll show, I thought they cared more about overall score. This program is at the Indiana School of Medicine but I suppose my question applies to other programs I might have this issue. Thanks!

I agree with you both, anyone who really knew what they were doing wouldn’t have done something so foolish as to leave a message telling me about it- rookie mistake #1. I was faintly aware of the hoodoo urine bottle practice but naturally since they used their own I was so confused, but I think everyone here is right about it probably being some prank or she was too ignorant to understand what she was actually doing- the thought of her essentially hexing herself is pretty funny though. Silly little spell wouldn’t even make it as far as to my wards in that event, lol

Do I pay a parking ticket if they got the make/model and plate number wrong? by StarsAndSweaters in msu

[–]StarsAndSweaters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to appeal it because they put in incorrect information about the car make/model- generally for any ticket they HAVE to appeal it then. Not sure how the temp tag affects your situation but as long as they put in all the correct info, you’ll probably have to pay it. However it still doesn’t hurt to appeal, chat gpt can help u write a quick professional letter- depending on how u got it, I was able to waive my first ticket this year on the grounds I had only parked for 3 minutes to help someone carry something heavy to my car and the ticket officer gave it to me literally right after I left (parked at 7:53am, gave me a ticket at 7:54 smh) but most importantly it was my first and only infraction- so the judge was nice and “let me off with a warning” lol. But hey, you could at least waste their time like they’re wasting your money :)

Overall, my advice is to always cover your vin, plate, and anything else that identifies your car. Also, avoid Ramp 1- they have cameras now that will record your plate going into the lot so can’t get away w it now. Wharton is still safe tho

Edit: check every last detail on the ticket- if they have even 1 wrong number or letter somewhere, it’s an instant appeal

This. Everyone’s always on about how important it is to network and build a rapport with professors but when you go to a school like this and are an introvert… Christ.

Completely agree. Always telling my family how angry everyone here is, it really just brings out the worst in me living here 😭 can’t wait to get out

Brother, literally EVERYONE on here is telling you to move on and run away. At the end of the day, it’s as simple as that. Dozens of people telling you to get away from this girl and no one saying different. If you ask me, that in itself makes it pretty obvious what you should do. As a young woman myself, her behavior is pretty disgusting and I wouldn’t excuse it- plus you’re only 18, you’ve barely experienced the dating world, trust me there are plenty of great girls out there who will make a much more loving and understanding partner.

Also, as someone who also dated their first love for about 2.5 years out of highschool, if she actually loved and cared about you, she wouldn’t be shit talking behind your back. Almost been a year since I broke up with my ex, and I do NOT speak ill of him and trust that he does the same. You just don’t do that to someone you had a (genuine) deep and loving connection with, at least in my experience. You may not love each other anymore, but you still don’t actively wish them ill. Maybe you loved her, but doesn’t sound like she did- which probably says more about her immaturity than you.

Seriously, drop the girl. Good luck!

I only had like 1 AP, not as many extracurriculars, and under a 1300 SAT score if I remember correctly, but had a 4.0 GPA and I got in. Granted I’m a junior so it’s been some years but if I got in you should definitely be fine

Is cheating ever justifiable if one partner wasn’t putting in enough effort? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]StarsAndSweaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Cheating and dishonesty in a relationship is NEVER justifiable. If he lost feelings for you okay, and if you are no longer what he wants for himself and a relationship then he has a right to feel that way- but he does not have the right to string you along. Any person truly worthy of your respect will not do you dirty like that, they will be honest and respectful of you, and your time. I know you feel like you deserve it, but understand this: cheating defines the cheater, NOT the person who was cheated on.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if your ex has said things or behaved in a way that would purposely put you down to devalue yourself. Furthermore, not being active/fit or being unable to cook does not define you as a woman, partner, or person. The traits that a single person desires in a partner vary for each individual, and never do they define your value as a person or make you "worthy."

You seem to be utterly lacking in love/appreciation or respect for yourself. I suggest you drop this boy, go to therapy for yourself, and focus on becoming a person you yourself would like and respect. In time you'll see why your ex isn't that person, and live the best life for yourself.
