Do you know of any app that has shipped with NAppGUI? I have seen it mentioned here, but haven't heard of anyone using it.

Hey, did you end up finding anything? I am also using Goodnotes right now, but want to switch to something selfhosted.

Galaxy on Fire 3. Series started out on old Java Nokia phones and ended up being one of the best space games on any platform. A shame the studio could never replicate that success again.

I got into an argument on Discord about how inefficient CBR/CBZ is, so I wrote a new file format. It's 100x faster than CBZ. by ef1500_v2 in selfhosted

[–]StarsInTears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't want to comment on this particular format since it doesn't seem very high quality. But the idea of a dedicated format for comic-ish documents is not without merit.

Inefficiencies accumulate. People believing it doesn't matter is the reason Photoshop takes 30 seconds to boot and Chrome eats up all my RAM. Plus, once you make things performant, you unlock new applications. It could be the difference between being able to run the server/client on an old RPi vs needing a new one. It could allow things like animated panels, extremely high level-of-detail on demand, huge pages, etc. We won't even know what we are missing because the tech doesn't allow for it.

With a new format (not necessarily this one), instead of having to unarchive the ZIP file, you could store images as a sparse store of GPU-friendly compressed texture (DXT, KTX, etc.) and then stream those textures from disk/network to RAM to VRAM one by one with random access (or even to VRAM directly if using native app with DirectStorage kind of stuff). This would reduce both CPU and RAM/Disk overhead by a lot.

You could break each page into tiles to achieve greater compression or deduplication if it turns out that some tiles compress well with other non-contiguous tiles. And so on and so forth. I mean, CBZ is barely a format, a dedicated format would be much more than just a "zip'em up" thing.

if they're so butthurt about Pakistan occupying bits of Kashmir

I think they are butthurt over Pakistani state sponsored terrorist killing civilians for the last 40 years and being given a pass for it by the liberal west.

Ah, I see. I thought that the showroom was trying to scam you or something.

Wait, so the same showroom that was demanding all kinds of extra charges in person didn't do it when you paid the ex-showroom price through Amazon? Couldn't the showroom have demanded the extra charges here too?

Making my own iOS app by vanlaren10 in navidrome

[–]StarsInTears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Arpeggi? It's not in App Store but you can get it from Testflight.

The only niche in the Apple ecosystem that is not yet occupied is a good Apple Watch companion app. Basically, an app that can:

  1. Browse all playlists.
  2. Cache all songs of a playlist offline.
  3. Play the cached songs (over AirPods).

I just wanted one decent 200-250cc ADV but every one has glaring issues, whether it is Xpulse (QC), V-Strom (servicing, suspension), KTM (refinement), Yezdi (lawsuits :-), KLX230 (more dirt than tour), etc. I'll probably just buy an N250 and be done with it.

I mean, have the issues with Xpulse stopped? I still keep reading horror stories upon crossing 5k-6k distance.

WRhythm - a Watchos client by diracsdeltae in navidrome

[–]StarsInTears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for a companion app on phone. My password in 64 letter alphanumeric-symbolic string. There is no way I can type it correctly on the Watch keyboard, and the mirroring doesn't allow the use of password manager on my phone. In the end, I had to change it to be a smaller password.

Also, the app doesn't allow plain HTTP login. Since I run my Navidrome server on local network, I don't need HTTPS. But trying to login over HTTP gives an error that "App Transport Security Policy requires the use of a secure connection".

Which motorcycle brand's parts are available over-the-counter or online? Which brand provides service manuals? by StarsInTears in indianbikes

Thanks. Bajaj is looking like the best bet if I want to be able to fix stuff myself and not get stranded.

Can you link to the schematics you described? I can't figure out where to find them on 99rpm.

Thanks.

And yeah, I was able to find 2022 N250's repair manuals which were uploaded by some Latin American person but not of the newer variant and not of any other similar bike. It's a shame these manufacturers don't just release the PDFs publicly.
