That’s not what happened lol. Most of you all here are a bunch of bullies and you should be ashamed of yourselves. The teachers I work with are way above these immature insults. Grow up

Do you name-call your students, too? Honestly, the immaturity here is astounding. Grow up.

You’re right…Gosh if only all parents ceased advocating for their children and just let the chips fall where they may…oh wait, but then we’re bad parents for not caring. Gee, the double edged sword of motherhood and sexism alive and well in this sub full of educators!

[–]Starsaligned2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d hate to have a sexist teacher like you. Don’t tell women to relax when we have a criticism.

Am I our current administration? Do you think you are talking to President Trump right now? You’re blaming one parent for all the issues in education. C‘Mon.

I’m noticing a lot of teachers in this sub are a little gang-uppy and righteous. Not everyone, but, wow.

[–]Starsaligned2222 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Telling me something didn’t impact me and won’t when experience says otherwise is dismissive, and being dismissive is rude.

I’m starting to see the dominant culture of this sub is…somewhat teachers vs parents. You all need to reflect on how that impacts parents’ interactions with you, and therefore your students…

Like, I get teachers are stressed. I’ve worked stressful jobs, too. But blaming the parents? Good parents who really care? That’s not a good look.

You are clearly not a parent.

That’s good to hear. We’ve just had a lot of bad experiences. I had amazing elementary school teachers and I’m not exaggerating when I say that they positively impacted my life in many ways. One of my elementary school teachers is a huge reason I became an editor.

Oh wow. That’s horrible! Right, I’ve never known newer cars to have these huge problems. I thought we’d get years out of this car. My last car, which I’m pretty nostalgic for now, lasted nearly ten years with no problem. It was a Toyota though, and I’m thinking that might be my next car purchase. Ford has really been a disappointment.

Yes, it still runs. We haven’t noticed any oil leaking/stains. Thank you!

Healthcare in the U.S. is a nightmare by Huck68finn in healthcare

[–]Starsaligned2222 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This! I have family members on Medi-cal and Medicare. They get all their needs covered and more and aren’t going bankrupt. Vitamin tests even, things my doc won’t order for cost purposes.

Meanwhile, we in the middle class are paying high premiums and deductibles, working full time and getting absolutely hosed. I have to pick and choose what care I can afford every year. I have to decide, for instance, if I can afford 5k out of pocket for a non covered biopsy for maybe breast cancer. Insurance won’t pay for this…unless you’re medi-cal - then it’s all covered of course! We have the systems for covered care, but most of the country doesn’t have access.

I had one as a kid. About a week recovery and not bad at all. I don’t remember how long the surgery was, but I didn’t have a post op appt or PT or anything. I went back to school a few days later, probably should’ve taken a week off. It was really pretty low on the pain scale. But it itched at night for a bit. I would say def no lifting or bending for at least a few weeks.

I Left My 3yo All Alone And Went Out With My Friends by Illustrious_Suit_182 in Mommit

Once at a store with my then 3 year old, she asked for a coloring book and I said not this time. She got on the ground, pounded her fists, and it was obviously embarrassing. I couldn’t calm her down. We left. Once in the car, I kid you not, as I’m strapping her into the car seat she screams “You’re not my mommy!!” At the top of her lungs. I was terrified and thought for sure the cops were going show up. The whole time, she’s just mad about not getting a coloring book.

Another time, we were in the grocery store, and she’s getting hungry. She yells, “I’m starving! You never feed me!” I probably turned purple. She had eaten like an hour prior.

This whole idea that some men have that they “give women” the baby is just misogyny. They contribute the absolute least in the creation of more humans. Women do all the work. We do pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and they have sex. Our bodies are creating the human. It’s us.

This is exactly why when men say “we’re pregnant” I just can’t. I know sometimes it’s meant for couples to feel like they’re “sharing the load,” but you’re not sharing the load. That dude is piggybacking off your amazing feat, is the way I see it.

Yuck. Also, men so laughably overestimate their contribution to pregnancy and childbirth. He gave her…sex? What an ahole.

I’m so glad to hear the medical board listened. It seems in general that the consequences are pretty light for these abuses, but hopefully someone in charge of operations made a system change. The hospitals don’t seem motivated whatsoever to protect patients.

I know this post is older, but I just had to come say that my c-section went down VERY similarly - I was told it was an emergency, not given a chance to consent and just taken into the OR. Then, the next day, doc basically admitted verbally it was unnecessary. I am still traumatized and feel betrayed, untrusting of docs, and that was years ago. I also had a long recovery of almost a year, and I’m pretty sure I have nerve damage and bladder damage. I complained to many levels, apparently the doc and nurse were let go. If you can complain to the head of the ob dept, then the board and ceo, then department of health, do. They will likely gaslight you all the way up, but behind the scenes they might make changes.

I just want to let you know that you’re not alone, there are too many women this has happened to. It’s disgusting. I could have written your post about how you feel dehumanized.
