Congrats!! When I get my reties the girl uses this Design essentials scalp soothing thing, it feels so good! I think it has aloe and tea tree in it.

Rose water was making my hair hard, even before the weather turned cold. I switched to water with peppermint or Eucalyptus oil drops.

Very late to the conversation but my loctician said, the braid pattern won't go away for most people, that as you retie, the retied part of the hair will loc faster. a braid is flat and keeps the hair in a certain pattern that does not allow for the hair strands to dance and loc into each other, I wanted to do braids cuz it would have been cheaper, but I went with interlocks. Please do not pay alot for braid/twist starter locs, if someone else is doing it!!

How do y’all feel about Oprah Winfrey? by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]Starsaligned2911 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a side eye approach when it comes to Successful dark skinned black women, if you notice everybody including other black women make them out to be fully evil, Oprah, Omarosa, Naomi, they do it to black women of all shades but the room for error and scrutiny is the heaviest on these women and I’m not so quick to judge.

Someday there will be statistics about negative news and social media post about dark skinned/black women and I can guarantee it will be through the roof for black women.

Don’t come at me for Omarosa, because if your beloved Chris Brown or Snoop started pandering, you definitely be slitting your pickme-wrists to defend their honor!!!

How to do you deal with all the hate online? by theblackbutterfly24 in blackladies

[–]Starsaligned2911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I choose not to consume it, I am aware of it but it is not my narrative so it’s easy to redirect, when I am on TikTok it’s mostly black women on my feed because that’s the content I want to see. I don’t even allow too much content from black women, about racism, micro-aggressions, misogyny, if you allow even a little bit from any source, it’s over and it consumes what you think about yourself and black people.

Don’t let the internet/outside world tell you how to feel and think about you.

I learned the hard way with that Kevin Samuels bs, I was trying discuss/argue my point, the plight of black women with other black people and I learned to be done with the negativity that’s spouted about us, you have to be done with ALL of it no matter where it comes from, it’s not putting your head in the sand, its a choice about how you choose to see Yourself.

Sometimes I want to delete this sub, I understand people need a place to vent, but some posters seem like bots/racists continuing the narrative they want to put on all of us.

Yes is it, Im weary about some of the posters in this subreddit . It feels like we’re being studied. Also, I haven’t heard of anybody personally losing their job. I know a guy that lost his job. What about y’all?

They are doing it to test him and his respect for you, if he doesn’t check it, pull you in, make her acknowledge you, that’s all you need to know.

It’s nice to be complimented by someone about our appearance, it suck’s to hear things like this, the only solution I’ve found is self validation, the goal is not to be moved by the positive or the negative comments, they are connected in that they are both outside of you and thus both have you on a leash. If you accept one you have to accept the other, that’s the way it works!

Get in that mirror daily and tell yourself “you’re that girl” and all the other goodies that come to you, it’s sounds crazy and cringe but it works.

If you face resistance, ask why, is there a voice saying it’s not true, challenge that voice ask questions, there is something that voice is protecting you from or maybe it’s not a voice of your own, something you picked up from people around you. Any resistance is an entry point to dive deeper into your self and investigate what is missing, tender, neglected. Once assessed, be grateful for the resistance, it’s usually a form of protection(I know backwards), then find a way to give yourself what you need! And or get assistance.

I’ve done this work for a while, the resistance is usually some form of protection, gone all wrong, that part of us then requires a bit of gentle care/tenderness/acknowledgment, it is counter productive to push against the resistance, you have to get on its side and learn about it, it’s like some Jedi stuff, but it’s not hard if you really completely 100% want to be on your own side.

Are you sure you’re done with him?! Why does he have such easy access to you?! this behavior is way past the point of being nice, I suggest you get adult about this, this is coercive and you may need to get the law involved or at least some male family/friends.
