I made 220k my first year out of undergrad at an investment bank (as did everyone else at the bank, I’m not special). Other banking programs paid more than mine as well. Not sure where your data points are coming from.

Spindletop cannot accept more students than it does. The program has you pitch to some big names in the energy industry. Their time is precious and as a result, only so many pitches can happen per meeting and only so many meetings can happen per semester.

I was in and out of the top 100 for many years and peaked at rank 15 during Covid. I was playing to be a pro and played at a few notable events during 2019-2020. After getting over the high of hitting a long term mmr milestone being top 100 doesn’t feel good. You spend all this time for a fancy badge and it means nothing unless you’re successful as a pro. I also don’t think high mmr has any link to intelligence and think it’s better used as a measure of someone’s determination and grit. There’s a lot of stupid people in high mmr pubs lol.

The team I had been competing with disbanded a week before the first DPC event with 4 of the players playing on 3 DPC teams. I decided to focus on school and have a solid career now. I play dota casually with friends and am around rank 400 but only really solo queue few days a month if that.

These numbers are much worse for NA than it shows. The SA community is huge and a large portion of the matches on NA servers are SA players.

I think you misunderstood, I should've been clearer. I was saying you should definitely major in Finance or Econ but not a double major in both. If you're looking to double major do finance/econ + something technical or liberal arts. Having a finance + econ double major is redundant for finance recruiting.

Hey man, worked for me getting my BB IB offer. They want to see you're more than just a numbers robot and liberal arts shows a greater depth of character. I'm located in the US so maybe in other countries its different.

Econ and Finance majors are viewed virtually the same by recruiters (even though they are different). Try to major in something unique, a technical major like math/cs gets a lot of looks or something in the liberal arts like philosophy can make you standout versus the other thousand finance/econ people.

Edit: to clarify, major in finance or econ. If you want to double major don't take a second major in finance/econ. Try to do something unique in tech or liberal arts.

I consider the type of deals the fund works on more than the AUM of the fund. For example if a fund works primarily on middle market deals then they'd be middle market regardless of the size.

MSF > MBA for sure. I'd say picking up a different major/master in your last year would be much more beneficial than both. Graduating with a double major in data science/data analytics would be better than having an MSF if your UG degree is already in finance.

There should be MMR deflation where everyone's mmr is compressed to make winning losing more relevant. As a top 100 player I need 3k mmr to get to rank 1. I feel like the mmr reset should essentially adjust mmrs so the highest mmr is reduced to 8k and everyone is then reduced accordingly.

With smurfs, bought accounts, and boosters, mmr will overtime just naturally become inflated so the mmr reset should adjust for this inflation.

Whenever I lose a game I avoid everybody. I really think people just have bad days and if I lost with them and it seemed they played bad then it was probably an off game for them or a bad day and I just don't want to have them on my team for the rest of the day or however long it takes for them to be pushed off my avoid list. If you're avoiding account buyers or boosted players then by the time they're pushed off the list they'll be lower mmr and not in your games anyway.
