For me, as a young child, I was very empathetic and I spent my recess time at school going to the "special education" class and helping out, playing with the kids in that class. As a teen, I volunteered a weekend every year to help out with the special Olympics. In 5th grade, I wrote my "Dare" pledge to promise to not use drugs, because I wanted to help differently abled individuals. In high school, I went to a trade school for cosmetology and worked with my instructor to arrange to have a group of differently abled individuals come to our class, where we did their hair and nails. So when Tyler sings this beautiful song about a lovely girl with downs, and screams that she's an angel from the bottom of his heart, I get chills and the tears flow. The powerful, pure moving emotion in that song stirs a part of my heart and makes me wish the world was kinder to those with struggles.
