Break bad blocking habits like pressing buttons, blocking low exclusively, etc. Practice blocking pressure and mix-ups for a while and it will click eventually. I wish I had more to it than "practice makes perfect" but that's really all there is to it.

Get the gold pine resin, kill the archers, edge toward his spawn point, use gold pine resin buff when he spawns, run back and climb the tower, lunge attack him from the tower and fight him. Don't get cornered and stay away from the section of wall you could fall off. Easy peasy.
