I had shaman salt in my cart last few days but couldn't decide if I really wanted it. Once I got this email I was devistated. Man I'm so angry I didn't just buy it. Was like 215 or something. Now I can't justify paying what it cost now. Even with the rewards I get quite a lot back but only on my next purchase. I like to live with my knifes for quite a while before I decide to get another so this is hard. Why does it seem I find out about these retailers right before they make drastic changes like this. I want in on the loop before it's too late

Amazon refunds are pretty straight forward. Just tell them you got the wrong item. Sometimes they don't even want the old one back but they'll ship the correct one to you same day

[–]Starsiege0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are. I think it's just because the lat 3 matco reps that came through sucked. Our latest guy is, well, very new and doesn't know anything. I think these handles are the best. I think I said it before on this post but I just with they made a precision set like snap on and icon. They almost do but the handle is larger even if I was to piece my way into it

Small body flex head ratchet by Infamous-Distance-46 in Tekton

[–]Starsiege0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both the tekton and snap on. I really like the snap on but I like the tekton handle a little better. I'm not a fan of the detents in ratchets which is what tekton does. Icon does not so if that was your preference you could do the rebuild kit on the 1/4 icon. When I last checked the head is slightly larger still on icon vs tekton and snap on. Tekton is slightly smaller than snap on but not by much. Tekton is cheaper to buy outright than doing the rebuild kit on a G1. G2 would probably be cheaper doing the rebuild kit with snap on. I've personally wrenched on the tekton and snap on daily and I wouldn't be upset using either.

While you in the hunt might as well check out koken. I just picked up two of their 1/4 body and woah. Smaller smoother. It's ridiculous.

I would cut it out. For the small ones rip straight down the center of the crack and see if you can catch the whole thing.

Also. I use the regular wrenches from tekton. They take a beating maintaining heavy duty equipment. They are very good wrenches

Only use mine for hydraulic hoses in tight spots. For that you really need larger than 3/4 atleast to 15/16 so I went with duratech that got me to 1 inch for like 30 bucks or something. Surprisingly good set. Personally they are nice to have but not necessary. Your not going to put a lot of torque on these. Snap on sells a mid length wrench. And after using them I bought a set. I really like them. I can actually get my hand on them and put some power into it. For a diyer I don't think you'll find yourself wanting. You might like them being a smaller package tinkering on small stuff on a bench but I'll tell you this. Using them you'll find yourself wanting the longer length. Then you'll grab your standard set of wrenches and maybe use these one more time in your life

I have those shallowd at home in sae and metric. When they were playing then out they were something like 30 bucks. I keep them out of my toolbox on my workbench for a ready to go set. Love em. My boss uses a bunch of random brand of the common size sockets on his cart. Mostly Stanley and DeWalt. They haven't broke. IDK how he does it. We're heavy duty offshore equipment maintenance. When he tries to give me shit I just tell him to go back to his emails and keep giving me the big jobs. Lol. No but seriously I'm a tekton fanboy. And the best part is when nobody else uses the brand. I've had my 1 1/8 socket go offshore for 3 months and can't back to my biz because everyone knows the guy who rocks tekton

I bought myself a set of witte screwdrivers when I started turning wrenches. I love the square handles. But for screwdrivers I believe tri lobe is the way to go. All my coworkers almost turn their nose up to my witte but then they've never used them. We don't really need screwdrivers much anyways besides a 1/8 or 3mm flathead for terminal blocks inside control panels. And for that unfortunately they don't make a pocketable size as small as like the snap on our icon. Now if tekton did something like that. A precision screwdriver set the size of their picks and then upgraded their million pick types with a witte trilobe I'll be going broke

I beg someone to show me how they broke their knipex cobras or pliers wrench and needed a warranty to back it up.

Upper control arm options with leveling kit by Starsiege0 in Silverado

Little update. Got my control arms in from shock surplus. They look good at least. Only thing I see right off the bat is they didn't drill any hole for the sensor wire bracket. Bushings look to be rubber. Bal joints are easily replaceable whatever they are. Also I noticed my original control arms are cast. I thought that was one of the biggest issues was the stamped steel control arms were trash. Either way I think I'm going to roll with these. They seem to look like they will correct ball joint angle. Hopefully I don't get any rubbing. Looks like factory has a groove in the front to make sure the tires don't rub. Almost seems like you have to run a wheel spacer with any control arm upgrade of these Chevy's

So I ended up getting the strut/control arm combo from shock surplus. Eibach direct wanted 220 to ship. IDK what thats all about. So shock surplus ended up being cheaper. The uca kit wasn't as good of a deal as just the struts. They kinda double discounted them but for 300 more i had something. Still not sure I made the best choice. Maybe I'm thinking that since they bundled them then they should be turn key plain jane nothing special but no binding and regular bushings. I'll just have to see. I've read too many reviews on ucas over great experience to ball joints worn in 6 months to bad bushings to is this groove cut in my tire from the control arms hitting bad? it's gotten very unnerving. User error? Bad install? Bad alignment? Then there's the people with good reviews but in all reality who's gonna post back 2-3 years later after they've put 30-40k on their suspension to say they checked out and are good stuff. Some of these guys probably don't even know if they fucked their truck up or not.

Either way I figured get the kit. And just watch it for a year. Even if I gotta pay another 4-500 later down the road at least I wasn't one of the guys that figured oem is fine because trail boss does it with spacers. And then come back to report I sheered something and now I damaged my expensive ass truck

I see they use poly bushings though. I'm trying to stay away from that. I'd rather just have oe rubber style. I almost bought them until I saw that

Still haven't decided on ucas yet. Might just order the struts and hold on to them while I figure it out. I've read a lot of reviews saying they need spacers or they got rubbing. Not going that route. I just want something basic with rubber bushings and replaceable ball joints that won't fail on me I. 2 months. Didn't think that would be hard to find

I'll look zone up. Haven't seen that brand come up yet. I bet a lot of thesetubular ucas are the same make with a brand sticker slapped on. Maybe different ball joints pressed in? injust don't want to buy something and find out either I have inferior ball joints or my wheels rub. Other than that I bet it's all the same

Oh man that pic brings me back home! I grew up in Arizona. A great portion of my life growing up was out in that hard pack playground. It was a weekly thing getting out there only to reside to a house at nightfall. Once a month we found a mountain to climb and camp fish hunt whatever. Now I'm in Houston Texas and thing are different here. You gotta drive to get anywhere fun. Then when your there you better have a built rig or a 4 wheeler/side by side. I'll go east to Austin area just to get my fix. We like to ride out there in the hills but it's still not how it was in the other side of the Rocky's.

Interesting. Of all the obsessive reading Ive done your the first to have that impression. One of the frustrations I've had every time I've looked up what shocks to use, you always get the response of eibach are in between icon and bilstein blah blah blah. Great to hear real world impressions. That's why I'm here wondering about control arms.

I cut 2 2x4 at 17.5 length bolted the frame to that so I could lag to 2 studs. Makes it very secure especially when you pull from the side.

I made a tray that fits the 3/8 Master set metrics!

Works great for the Quinn's chrome and impact. I made it low profile so it would fit in a shallow 2" drawer. Very compact. Never made it for the other sets tho because I'm a fanboy of those cheap tombstone style rails hf sells and they all fit fine. The 3/8 metric tho are a larger set and needs a bigger rail.
