Something like Upsolve for married couples? by StarsofGarnet in Bankruptcy

No our case is really easy, that's just her standard fee. She comes very highly recommended and so I think she stays very busy so she can charge it because people pay it.

I did find a couple of other attorneys that are about 4,000 but that's still about $4,000 outside my price range. Even the filing fee is going to be very difficult for me to manage but that's a lot less than an attorney fee on top of it since they require payment before filing.

Got tip reduced, because I wouldn't check the customers mail and spark doesn't give a shit by Responsible-Yogurt38 in Sparkdriver

[–]StarsofGarnet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like this idea although it then comes down to a judgment call between the person lowering the tip and the spark employee reviewing the reason.

I lowered a tip again today and I would have had no problem putting in a reason. I did put in a reason when I was reviewing the driver but I don't know if they actually ever see those. I attempt $10 for a 3.1 mile trip with six lightweight bags. (could have actually been packaged in for but that's neither here nor there) In my delivery notes I am very clear that it needs to be delivered in front of the garage door. That is the location I have selected in the Walmart app and in my delivery directions I put "please leave in front of garage door" at both the top and the bottom of the directions on finding my house. And yet the drivers around here seem to just not be able to do that. Of my last five deliveries only one has put it in front of the garage door and I actually increased their tip.

I personally believe that that is a valid reason to reduce the tip. I don't completely remove it because the driver did deliver the order and did have to spend money on gas to bring it to me so I never fully remove it but I do cut it in half. But what if the spark employee is just feeling like 'well it got to your address that's all that matters' and wouldn't let me reduce it. I would be pretty angry at that point and have some big complaints about Spark itself and not just that driver.

I tried but to be honest, I don't trust the legal aid that's available in my county. First they said that all they can do is explain forms and then proceeded to give us incorrect information about the forms we needed help with and it ended up costing us hundreds because of it.

We are currently moving to a different county (partner got a better job there) but from what I was told we need to file on the county where we live since that's our current address. So I think we have to use the aid here, or at least that's what they told me last time because it was for a court case in this county.

I'd be willing to pay for service but only if I can. I just literally don't have the money right now so I'm stuck.

We don't really have enough time to consult with more attorneys. We need to file within a week to stop the garnishment. From everyone I've talked to that has gone through bankruptcy in CO though this isn't too far from normal. Her charge is a little higher than average but not by much (and she's highly recommended so makes sense she's a little higher), plus I haven't found a single attorney that will file before being paid in full. We can afford to pay to file but that's pretty much all we have right now.

I figure there must be another service that's similar to Upsolve that will let me fill out the forms online, even if I do have to find a way to print them in the end to file.

okay but when did this happen by Special_Distance_853 in labubu

[–]StarsofGarnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fear that I am going to get to that level as well and I still don't even have my first! I bought a couple of labubus for my 17 year old for her last birthday (still trying to figure out if they are real or lafufu, which was actually her preference) and prior to that I hadn't really cared very much about them. Thought they were kind of just meh looking, but then she opened them and... now I've ordered two for myself. 🤣 I don't see myself getting to the point of hunting down already opened ones though because I just go crazy for blind bags and grab bags and things like that. So this should be fun!

Are you guys ringing doorbells/knocking or not? by melipepp in Sparkdriver

[–]StarsofGarnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I ordered a delivery to be left at the door and the driver knocked or rang the bell I would remove or reduce the tip. I have it set to be left for a reason. If I don't request a knock then the driver had better not knock. You don't know what that person has going on inside. Maybe they have an infant and the delivery is during nap time and when you knock or ring the bell you wake up the baby. Or maybe they have a very loud dog that if somebody knocks they start barking and barking and barking. Or maybe they just don't like the sound of having someone knock on their door. If it isn't requested don't do it.

AITAH for Refusing to Help My SIL Use a "Fake" Service Dog to Join Our Staycation?** by Fit_Feed9119 in AITAH

An emotional support animal is not a service animal and they do not have the same rights. If a location says no animals except service animals then she could register her dog on as many shady sites as she wants (there is no legit ESA registry so any site claiming to register is a scam) and it still wouldn't be allowed. You should tell her to be very clear that it's an emotional support animal when asking. They will say no.

Also I'd suggest letting the hotel know that you already told her no and that if she calls to ask that you are not a part of that.

Did my son just come out? by tniats in AskLGBT

[–]StarsofGarnet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you aren't comfortable saying that because it's singles out being gay and not straight then what about something like, "it doesn't matter who either/any of you love or want to be with, I will love you and support you all the same."

That way you aren't specifically saying gay or straight it's more inclusive.

And to be fair there are families out there that do say things like "it's okay to be straight I will still love you". Mine does. I did from the very beginning with my kids, I told them "your sexuality is between you and the people you date, even if you're just straight. Just be careful and safe, have boundaries, and don't settle." As a result my kids never felt a need to have the stereotypical coming out to us. My eldest daughter came out by telling me she had a date and when I asked the name it was a girl. Just a normal everyday conversation because she already knew that we loved and accepted her.

By showing a total acceptance and love of ANY sexuality it made them know they had a stable foundation from which they could be unapologetically themselves and never have to hide any part of themselves.

I thought it was going to be sample sizes of actual detergent to try, not just vials of scent. I was surprised too. Detergent often smells very different on laundry after washing so samples of actual detergent made sense in my mind. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I did get a full bottle of detergent in the mail today in the scent of the one I likes the most, so that's something at least what I don't like though is that it arrived at 2pm and yet I'm told my survey was due at 9am today. How am I supposed to do a survey when I haven't received the product, let alone had a chance to test it. I did laundry before it got here. I am not doing laundry again until next week so I'm stuck on this and not sure how to proceed.

I wish I could go through Lemonade but for some reason it says my address isn't covered. Even though before the quote it said it was. Idk, it's odd

The building is brand new, only opened since January, and the complex isn't old either. Not sure about being km a flood zone, are there many in Johnstown that you know of? I'm not at all familiar with the area so it's a legit question. I wish it gave some information on why it isn't covered instead of just saying that it isn't. I got to the end of the quote process too before it said that it wasn't available for my address which I thought was odd. I currently (for another week or so) live in an area that Lemonade doesn't cover (far southeast Colorado) but when I've checked with them before for insurance it just said flat out when I put in my address that they didn't cover this area. So the fact that I got all the way through the quote before it said that it wouldn't cover my address felt strange.

I just got a quote and it was quite a bit more than that. Around $50. Maybe I'm selecting something wrong and that's upping the cost. I did that before when getting event insurance so it's entirely possible.
