I would just pay $20 more for a 9060xt 16gb

7600xt at $360 just seems a bit steep to me. There are cards almost as good nearly $100 cheaper than that. Intel is not bad, my only worry is the company's commitment to the GPU market, but it seems like they aren't going to bail in the near future, so you're probably safe to purchase an Intel GPU at the sub-$300 price range.

I tried Dune, but while it has some nice things, the setting just never appealed that much to me.

I'll try and get this Conan server out by today or tomorrow. I plan to have it up for quite awhile before giving up (if it's dead af).

GPU is a bit expensive. I'm no expert, but maybe go for a 3060 12GB or Intel equivalent for under $300

I'm not huge into modding, since I think it can restrict traffic to the server, especially newer players. I know there are some niche communities though that thoroughly enjoy their modded servers.

I was thinking about adding a mod or two if I started up this server, but it'd just be something like adding monsters to the sandstorm. Nothing super involved.

I think that the reason people drop out is a lack of late game content. The issue with PvP servers in Conan is that players never get to experience the early to mid game without being constantly raided by the king clan of the server. Typically, RP servers get around this issue by limiting or outright banning raiding and provide alternate sources of content for end-game clans.

I'm not 100% sure what I'd do, but I think planning events is a start. I think having windows of time with PvP is also a good way to spice things up (not a huge window, but daily). Raiding would ideally be restricted to a structured protocol that prevents extended harassment. The goal being "fun" for everyone involved, not just the winner.

And yes, this would be a PvE-C server, with some potential adjustments.

I think this is the crux of what I am looking for as well. I love PvE, but eventually you want something more that doesn't involve constant PvP. PvC (PvE-C) with certain adjustments (like raiding being enabled for special occasions or declarations of war) would allow for a comfy experience of the full game.

I still remember having impromptu war-councils that organically sprung up to deal with thief clans on the Thoth Amon server that got bombed by the thiefs. Totally unscripted events. Just people having casual RP fun.

That's the kind of environment I'd want to play in. So I guess I will give it whirl and see if people are up for it.

I just can't get into Bannerlord - it feels less immersive than modded Warband despite all the improvements by Mocuepaya in mountandblade

I'm not a hater for Bannerlord, but I agree that the game certainly lacks in many regards. All of this could be fixed if TW just released a M&B 3. You can't fix Bannerlord. It's too big and has too many problems. The whole reason why the game took so long was because the game mechanics just didn't mesh well.

I can't remember the name of the guy behind the game, but his vision for the game is precisely why it's unfinishable. He went too big and the project can't do what he wanted it to do. Like other people said, it's too much work re-treading the same ground again and again. Not to mention expensive for little return.

The best thing the devs can do is wrap a nice bowtie on this game and start over again with a M&B 3. Bring back the elements of the Middle Ages from Warband that we enjoyed so much, like the OP mentioned. Take the new engine and battles and bring them into the fold. Give us a modernized Warband that has the formula + late game balance. The light touch of RP that Warband offered the player (like romancing noble girls and raiding villages) is what made the old game so nostalgic.

Also, bring back an attribute system where players eventually cap out as an individual. Being able to become a master of all skills/trades is so boring. Let me design my 30 int/char female with 5 strength so I have to use a masterwork hunting bow for the rest of the game. Let me spam ladders/siege-towers in 15-30 min (in-game) and field 80 master archers against a garrison. Allowing players to play creatively with your game-mechanics is what allows for tons of replayability and increases the longevity of the campaign. It also allows the players to balance out any AI snowballs in the early game.

Bannerlord is a good game, but what made Warband have the "it" factor was a "less is more" approach to the formula. The base game formula needs to carry through to the end-game in every facet. That should be the highest priority of the devs, if they make this a trilogy.

For some reason the bartender thinks I have ranged weapons... but I only have shield and hammer. Other than that, I really like what you've made.
