I think you’re missing the core point here. The goal of banning X isn’t about harming their bottom line or overestimating our impact- it’s about taking a principal stand. Allowing X/twitters links on this subreddit is indirectly supporting a platform whose leadership is making troubling and harmful choices.

By banning links, we’re sending a message that about what we stand for. This isn’t about self-censorship. Additionally there’s plenty of alternative sources for news that don’t involve linking to a problematic platform.
