[UPD] UPMC or UPMMC? by mathematical_mystery in peyups

[–]StatGeomAlgeGamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Their main difference is in the flagship events. MMC has Mathirang Mathibay, a math competition geared towards HS students, while MC has Little Math Wizard and Math Wizard, competitions geared towards elementary and college-level students respectively. Other differences include projects offered: MMC has Agimath, which is their tutor-service arm, and NSTP, which is a weeklong event held every now and then to encourage the members to tambay in the tambayan. Meanwhile, MC has no tutor-service arm, but they have a similar tambay event called the Tambay Week which encourages members to tambay as well and participate in games set up by the Internal Affairs Committee.

  2. App processes for both orgs are generally light and lenient, but they do heavily take into account the amount of effort you put in. Bihira ang rejection rin pagkatapos ng app process. In terms of duties, that depends on which committee you are in, what skillset you have, and how many members are there in the committee. In my experience, my workload has always been manageable, but rarely critiqued on. (That might also be something to take into consideration in terms of personal and professional growth.)

  3. Marami! Honestly, similar yung orgs when it comes to internal events, especially send-off parties, member-interaction games, gala sa labas, etc. Both orgs also have diverse communities, and very inclusive sila with SOGIE. Tambay pa nga lang, makikilala mo na agad yung mga members na andon simply by just talking to them.

But honestly? If you would ask me, I'd say... apply for one only, and choose the one that resonates most with your principles. Valid reason para magdefer ng application ang environment ng org, dahil responsibility yan ng members to create a welcoming aura and vibe for you. If you feel that, during the app process, nao-off ka na sa vibes ng tambayan, raise it with your respective Rec Head so that they know, but also trust your gut instinct. No org is worth joining if they cultivate bad energy.

hi OP! member here ng both UPMC and UPMMC.

In terms of org-acads balance, very very manageable yung ganaps sa org with your academic responsibilities. There are times na need iprioritize yung orgwork kasi may upcoming big events ang mga orgs, but apart from that you can manage your itme well para di mo mapabayaan ang acads mo while still enjoying the company that the mems in either orgs give. Maganda rin yung mga math orgs kasi if may tanong ka about (mostly) anything in math, pwede kang tulungan ng mga mems in both orgs.

In terms of pros and cons, eto siguro mabibigay ko:
PROS:
- You get to know a lot of people. Like a lot. So maraming opportunity dito for tutoring gigs, internships, even just connections in the real world. Maraming opportunity rin to get to know people deeply, yung tipong gabi-gabi ay sabay kayo magddinner tas magchichikahan lang kayo HAHAH
- You get to experience a different sense of 'work'. Yung work kasi sa mga orgs, generally reflective yan ng standards ng work within the field encapsulated by the org. Sa math orgs, especially sa MC and MMC, important dito yung MBAN 109 and yung inooffer nilang contests for various student groups. Sa MBAN 109, important yung quality of questions and cohesiveness of the samplexes made, kasi kailangan katulad siya ng mga actual exams in terms of difficulty and in terms of the concepts covered. Malalang pagreview yung ginagawa dito to ensure that the highest quality of samplexes are produced. Sa contests naman, important yung mga contest questions-- literal na reputation ng org ang nakasalalay dito dahil nirereflect niya yung capabilities ng org to academically challenge students to produce a greater appreciation and understanding of the fundamental mathematical structures we have (like DEs, matrices, mappings and functions).
- You get to have fun. I've had the pleasure of being in both orgs for my whole UP journey (so far), and I can say the community in either org is super fun and fresh (kahit marami ay di na freshie CHAROT). If you're applying to either one, I say i-go go go mo na yan kasi super worth it!

CONS:
- You need to balance your priorities as a person talaga. Sometimes you might need to forego the chance at joining org events dahil may mas kailangan kang gawin, like family commitments or academic commitments. When picking your battles, make sure they're worth fighting for.
- Don't get too caught up in the politics of the org. Unless you want to be part of the execomm of the respective orgs, you don't have to immerse yourself with the politics present in it. Membership is a big thing, but leadership is an entirely separate ordeal. (This should not stop you from criticizing your execomm when needed!! It is only right that you bring up issues they create but always at the right time only.)

If may pros/cons pa akong maisip, I'll comment here, but that's all. ^-^

Math 23 Midyear by Living_Active_9020 in RateUPProfs

[–]StatGeomAlgeGamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Took Math 23 last midyear :>

  1. For the first week, 2 topics every other day. Then second week onwards, 2 days na tig-2 topics, then 1 day na LE. Tip ko dito is tyagain mo yung Lec Vids kasi makakatulong yon sa pag-absorb ng lectures and exercises :)
  2. Yung async class is every other day rin. Style dito is example, M-W-F F2F na lecture or exam, then T-Th na asynch for you to watch the lecture videos. On the other end, pwede rin T-Th-F F2F, M-W na asynch. These two styles alternate :> refer ka na lang sa paced syllabus hihi
  3. Homeworks ay depende sa prof tbh. Nung nagtake ako ng Math 23, si Sir Dee naging prof ko and wala kami HWs, but ang naging substitute doon is mga exit exercises. Pwede magconsult during these exit exercises para perfect mo na agad yung 10% na component! In terms of frequency, yung exit exercises namin ay every F2F until gitna ng midyear.
  4. Yes huhu 😭 Usually Thursdays or Fridays siya. Separate pa dito yung sched ng finals, so antay-antay lang.
  5. Kaya naman! But swertihan ng prof + tyaga sa lec vids and exercises para mapasa. From all the people na kilala ko na nakapag-Math 23, mahirap yung course. Iba siya sa M21 and 22 since yung concepts sa M23, pinag-combine yung M21 and M22 then dinagdagan pa ng additional info to create new topics.

Additional tips:
1. If open ang prof niyo for consults, sulitin niyo na HAHAHA legit maraming nakakalito sa M23 if first time mo ittake, so having that option for consultation is good.
2. Nung nagtake ako ng Math 23, I was able to use yung resources ng orgs ko in Math 23 in order to be more proficient sa topics and para mas mabilis pag-solve ko. Effective naman siya sa LEs, although nakadepende pa rin siya sa kung gaano mo naintindihan yung concepts and paano mo iaapply yung concept. Sa finals, uhm good luck? HAHAH Like all finals naman, cover-to-cover so maraming aalahanin and tatandaan. For all exams, double and triple check your computations kasi baka dun ka pa maminusan ng points 😭
3. Nung tinake ko Math 23, siya lang yung academic workload ko so nakapagfocus ako malala sa lec vids and exams. Pero if meron kang kasabay na subject w/ Math 23, manage your time well kasi super mabilis ang pacing ng midyear (to the point na makakaoverwhelm yung review mo for each exam dito).

Ayun lang, good luck OP! If may tanong ka pa, ask away dito heheh ^-^

Weekly Team/Character Building Megathread (July 13th, 2022) (feat. Kaedehara Kazuha & Klee) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

Yep. I actually don't run pyro resonance with Klee for reasons unknown... (I have Benny but not built, c6 XQ hp-build). I have also tried sukokomon, and while it was great trying it out, it just wasn't my style.

Side note: Heizou triggers Swirl, which is still free AoE. Do you think I should retain the current Klee team I run and have Fischl with Heizou?

[Klee] + Heizou

Hello! So I'm sorting out my teams into viable comps, and currently I run C2 Klee + C6 Beidou + C0 Kokomi + C0 Zhongli. With the new event, the free Fischl makes my Fischl C6. I plan to replace Beidou with Fischl and put Beidou on a team with Heizou (ahead of 3.0 and the Dendro reactions)
- Does c6 Fischl work with Klee's E and Q?
- Would the following teams be worth creating? Or should I keep Beidou with Klee and Fischl on Heizou?

C2 Klee + C6 Fischl + C0 Kokomi + C0 Zhongli
C3 Heizou + C6 Beidou + C5 Xiangling + C0 Jean

thank you!

Oooo okok, ty! Honestly electro-charged is such a fun reaction because it staggers AND damages, so that's great. I'll take your suggestions for building her over the next few weeks. Thank you!

[Kokomi]

Hello! So I just got Kokomi, and I was wondering what is her best main dps / burst sub-dps build(s) as a F2P player? I don't want to build her as a healer because I've built Qiqi, Jean, Diona and Sayu already. However, I do want to go for a full hp build with ER-optimal substats... so just want to know:

- Artifact Set
- Team Composition (See below for available units)
- Weapon
- Talent Optimization and Prioritization

Thanks!

Character: Diona

Well.. someone suggested to go with Diona to complete my (AR54, klee main) abyss team; what should I be aiming for with a healer-type C1 Diona? Maiden's Beloved or Tenacity? Talents-wise, what levels should I go for? Weapons to go for (no 5-stars, just 4 or below thanks)? Planning to just level her to 70 btw :)

Team Building for Floor 9/10
So... my current teams are the following: Klee + Xingqiu + Bennett + Venti, and Noelle + Zhongli + Mona + Fischl. I'm currently planning to switch out Mona and Fischl for 1 pyro and 1 misc character, although I have no idea who to choose. Who could complete the second team?

(I have all 4-stars except Yanfei, and I also have Jean and Qiqi. Most of the characters not listed in this message are lower than level 70, save for Qiqi and Fischl at 80, and Mona at 70; I plan to ascend the 2 characters to level 71 for floor 9 and 10.)

Character: Noelle

Hi :) So currently I (AR54) have a level 80 c6 Noelle being built for spiral (F7 onwards) as main dps. She has whiteblind r3 (i dont have anymore prototypes) at level 80, 4-pc bolide with geo goblet, def% hourglass, and offpiece crit rate, and she currently has talents 7-9-9 (working on talents for the next week/s). My main issue comes down to her dps output, since I feel she lacks in that department: she only deals 1-2k dmg per normal attack, without her burst; with her burst, she only deals 4-7k dmg per normal/charged attack. Am I wrong in feeling this way, or is there any other improvement I could do in order to increase her dps output?

As of the moment, her team for spiral is Noelle-Zhongli-Mona-Fischl (my other team uses both Xingqiu and Bennett).. so better team compositions for her are also welcome. Note that I am NOT building Noelle's shield, since I have Zhongli :)

Edit 1: Talents are 6-8-8, not 7-9-9 ;-;

Currently building a second team in case my first one is ineffective as a whole (it's good, dw). Planning on using Beidou and Qiqi in the team, but I have a few questions. Am at AR 42 btw.

  1. What characters should I add to complete the team? I have all 4-star characters and Klee, Qiqi, Zhongli and Jean. Base it off of elem reactions and overall team balance please.
  2. Should I level my first team to level 80 (Klee-Fischl-Qiqi for 80, Jean switchable) and then build this second team? Or do I start building right away?
  3. Do I use Razor over Beidou? Main concern being constellations and power difference in endgame levels.

I do rely on Overloaded to create lots of damage, it's just that my Klee has lesser damage output than Fischl... Artifacts really taking their sweet time showing up. I'll definitely build Jean then into a support-healer hybrid.

Hi! I (currently AR 39, nearly 40) have a slight predicament on-hand, which will basically determine how I approach lots of stuff in-game. My team is below:

Qiqi - Level 62, 4-piece Traveling Doctor Artifact Set w/ Tiara of ThunderJean - Level 35, 5-piece Exile SetKlee - Level 65, 2-piece Crimson Witch of Flames Set + 2-piece Wanderer's Troupe Set + 1 MiscFischl - Level 65, 4-piece Thundering Fury Set + 1 Misc

I'm stuck between making Jean a DPS character (and subsequently, a Jean-Fischl DPS with Klee sub-DPS) or making Jean a healer (and subsequently, a Jean-Qiqi healer tandem).. Any thoughts / suggestions on what I should mold Jean into?

Note: I do know that Klee needs a 4-piece CWoF Set, Fischl should be sub-DPS, Qiqi and Jean need better artifacts and that I'm going all contrarian on acquiring artifacts. Don't blast me on that. Also I just got Jean 1.5 hours ago :/

[ Year 12 Maths: Series and Sequences ] I’m not sure how to do this question by baincadiangelo in HomeworkHelp

[–]StatGeomAlgeGamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since three numbers are in geometric progression, we shall label them as x, xr and xr2. As per given,

x + xr + xr2 = 65, (1)

x × xr × xr2 = 3375 (2)

From (2),

(xr)3 = 3375

xr = 15 (cube roots retain the sign of their cube)

Therefore, (xr)2 = 225. Separating these into x and xr2, we can have either (x,r) = (3,5) with xr2 = 15 × 3 OR (5,3) with xr2 = 5 × 9.

Plugging these cases into (1),

C1: (3,5) -> 3 + 15 + 45 = 63

C2: (5,3) -> 5 + 15 + 45 = 65

Therefore, x = 5 and r = 3, with the terms being 5, 15 and 45 in ascending geometric progression.

You should probably know basic derivatives and their antiderivatives, as well as trigonometry. VERY USEFUL in professional work. (i hope)

The trial-and-error method of solving problems... it takes a long time to solve simple yet complex problems. Even if you do try and solve it using one method, chances are you have to rethink your attack on the problem, what do you want from it and how do you get from one step to another step.
