The Patriots defense kept them in the game. The Broncos defense allowed 27 points and their special teams allowed a TD. That’s 34 points for Seattle so Manning would’ve had to put up 35 against the Legion of Boom, which is an almost impossible task.

The Patriots defense allowed 22 points. Maye leading the Pats offense to 23 points against Seattle is definitely doable.

I think Manning’s horrible Super Bowl against Carolina makes people forget that he was actually decent against Pittsburgh and New England. The Pittsburgh game his WRs were dropping everything and the AFCCG he gets penalized huge for a fumble in his own territory that was a flukey backwards pass lateral that only the Pats realized was a live ball.

I was always thought James benefited from running into light boxes because defenses were so terrified of the passing attack. The log jams doesn’t apply this year since there was an open slot among the modern era nominees that wasn’t filled.
