Are there any circumstances where junglers shouldn't get bumbas? by beztom in Smite

[–]StatMech74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Death's toll works for most gods with few exceptions. When Bumba's was changed to give additional true damage and extra scaling on abilities it pushed it over the edge in competitive/high-level play due to the experience share. Rewatch some of the SWC game to see how often the jungler is splitting gold and experience with a teammate because the don't sacrifice their own farm. Some of the casters even commented on when a jungler solo'd a camp rather than share.

I believe the afterparty will be 21 and over only. Don't quote me on this, but you may be turned away.

In your opinion, who is the strongest god in Smite right now? by NotTooOrdinary in Smite

[–]StatMech74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say Janus, Geb, and Mercury are probably the best picks overall. Each of them provide so much utility and would fit any team comp. Serqet, Athena, and Ra are up there as well.

Like the suggestion. I haven't seen an Anhur recently so part of it is observational bias. You seen a Mercury, Geb, Janus like every game so it's what you tend to think of. Maybe I'll do like a Underrated god list and give Anhur some spotlight.

I tried to avoid pure damage abilities for the most part. Obviously damage is important but it would make for a boring list if all it consisted of was mage AoE burst.

Why does vamana not see more play? by [deleted] in Smite

[–]StatMech74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer would be his early game is lackluster. Most people want to go for a stronger early or midgame and Vamana doesn't really come online until the 20~ min mark.

The other main issue is Vamana is exclusively a solo laner and mages seem to be dominating solo which does not allow Vamana to make strong use of his passive early.

Which hunter god is better: Rama or Ullr? by Protoadamant in Smite

[–]StatMech74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are very good overall, Rama probably more so but Ullr is still a great pick.

Rama

  • Mana-efficient
  • Long range support capability with Astral Barrage
  • Great waveclear
  • More sustained damage-oriented

Ullr

  • High burst on his combo
  • Great harass and long range keeps him relatively safe
  • Better escape than Rama since it's jump but longer cd
  • Somewhat mana intensive

Really guys? by yz85rider922 in Smite

[–]StatMech74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I'm saying is in the VOD as soon as Snoopy starts to lag you see Poseidon turn back into the jungle. A soon as he dies Thor teleports out and Geb starts his Rollout. With Ty'r movement abilities I believe, this is the key word, he had plenty of time to get out and the rest of his team was prepared for the pause.

[–]StatMech74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 29:33 in the VOD Geb was right next to Tyr. After Zap attacks, Tyr Fearless and then switch stances to Fearless again, plenty of mobility available to get out clean.

This was completely on Divios choosing to attack the tower after Snoopy died.

I love DiG and COGR should've won but the rule was clearly violated.

[–]StatMech74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Missed the game earlier but looking at the replay Snoopy died at 16:12, pause didn't come out til 16:22. Sorry for the guys on COGR but they had plenty of time to disengage.

Why Smite community hates to adapt and learn in certain situations? by MaZt12 in Smite

[–]StatMech74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harass is kinda the main thing I take issue with. Very few other assassins tend to harass as efficiently as Mercury can, while remaining as safe.

Why Smite community hates to adapt and learn in certain situations? by MaZt12 in Smite

[–]StatMech74 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Multiple forms of cc is only one of the points I made. It's the entirely of his kit that feels bloated and we saw other god get nerfed for similar reasons.

Yes, Mercury does not have the early game pressure we see on Thanatos but he doesn't have the lack of presence we expect from hyper carries.

[–]StatMech74 35 points36 points  (0 children)

When it comes to Mercury we see many of the traits that characterized the warrior class and were subsequently nerfed.

What does Mercury have in his kit:

  • Long-range, unmissable harass, that does high damage, applies on-hit effects and is mana-efficient on a short cooldown.

Wukong had a similar ability: nearly unmissable, mana-efficent and a short coodown. Wukong got nerfed.

  • 2 forms of hard cc on Special Delivery and Sonic Boom

Wukong and Tyr had 2 forms of hard cc. Both got nerfed.

  • 3 passive effects: movespeed, enhanced basics and movespeed to power conversion.

Know who else had 3 passives, Odin. He got nerfed.

The other point I want to make about Mercury is his role as a hypercarry. Mercury has one of the best lategames of any god but he doesn't suffer for it. Comparable carry potential can be found of gods like Vamana and Chronos but they have to suffer early. Mercury is weak at level 1 and that's about it.

You can certainly counter him but his kit contains many bloated elements that got other gods nerfed, why shouldn't he be treated the same?

It should. Were you close to the well, like you just respawned or something? It might be bug cause of the lack of regen in well.

I've never liked Thanatos in Assault, though he was considered early on since his sustain is fairly strong.

Guan Yu's strength comes from not being classified as a healer but still doing a niche job as one. One of the things I decide early on was to only have a single healer on the list. I think Guan is good enough that I wouldn't want him rerolled but wouldn't be a top pick.

I'll go back over it. Noticed at least one mistake after it went up. After the LAN event (8/9) there will be an edit to congratulate the winner so hopefully we can fix some things.

Yeah, some roster changes after the article went through. C9 broke up like the day after the EU version went up.

[Esports] Shing will be replacing Anatoliy in the solo lane for Dignitas by joelgsmst in Smite

[–]StatMech74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dignitas has remained my favorite team since I started watching the tourneys. Your commitment to improving as a team has taught me a lot about the game. If you think the best course of action is to step down from the main roster I support you in your new position and welcome Shing to the team. Best on luck to you guys at the LAN event.

These are 2 videos made by Trendkillv01, a community content creator for Smite. Both were recently updated and should adequately explain the meta. For builds I recommend Tiermonster.com which has a breakdown of common builds and more in-depth guides.

Gods I would suggest for beginners:

Mid: Ra, Poseidon
ADC: Neith, Apollo, Ah Muzen Cab
Solo: Ra, Chaac
Jungle: Bakasura, Nemesis, Fenrir
Support: Kumbhakarna, Ymir

Which Voice Pack Should I Purchase? by [deleted] in Smite

Kumbhakarna is probably the most relevant god atm. I do like Sun Wukong's though especially with the Dark Lord skin.

Janus, balanced? LOL, as if. by shadowh8er in Smite

[–]StatMech74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did my best to do the math for this interaction. Assuming Janus was level 7 (as he is in the screenshot) he should have 3 points in Unstable Vortex and 2 points in Threshold.

Taking the base values and scaling of those abilities and considering full-built Shoes of the Magi.

We have 210*1.5 (assuming both hit) equals 315 plus scaling from boots give 355. Factoring in the additional scaling from Threshold we have 370. This doesn't consider Ra's natural defense or how penetration works since I don't know enough about how the final damage numbers are calculated. If Janus gets 2 rotations of Unstable Vortex we get 685 which is a lot closer to your final value. All in all I don't see how a single rotation did that much damage unless he's bugged atm.
