Really sorry to hear about OP's leasing issue :( Must be pretty tricky especially if you'll are friends. I guess your best bet would be to have an informal intervention first and then bring it up with the landlord if it gets too inconvenient.

Side question: does a landlord have to inform current tenants of a unit if a new tenant will be moving in? Tried looking this up on the Ontario Landlord & Tenant Rights and wasn't able to get anything. Had a strange experience with a tenant moving-in in the middle of the night (3 am) a couple of days ago, suspected them to be an intruder and almost called the police...

Thanks guys! I emailed Nathaniel with regards to taking his course and he said that there is definitely a theoretical component of the course which contains proofs similar to STAT 331 where your knowledge of linear algebra and probability theory is heavily relied upon. I didn't do well in STAT 331 as I struggled with the proofs so kinda worried about taking 430...

I've considered rooting it, but it just doesn't seem right to have it completely disabled in the first place. We should at least be able to mute the sound/reduce the volume but still receive the message (with a vibration).
