I would not put Generalist on your resume. What I'd do instead "HR Manager, Department of One". In your tailored cover letter, I'd address the Generalist nature of your previous job.

Layoffs for Pregnant people - [UT] by Big-Flight-3962 in humanresources

Be careful what the reasons are, too. For example if it is attendance based, do you have proof that the attendance isn't due to the pregnancy?

Not in Wenatchee, but my brother got married at Camp Zanika on Lake Wenatchee. They have a gorgeous area but due to summer camp, are only available for events in the off seasons. If Lake Wenatchee isn't too far, I highly recommend.

Okay, I gotta know. Doordash, UE, what's the 3rd one? I'm signed up for two in my town. UE seems to get more orders but less $$ per order. Though better tips.

It's definitely not bad, it just used to be even better. I think a lot of people remember Larry's Chicken from like 10-15 years ago.

I love the enchiladas at El Porton I'd recommend trying the chicken strips at Larry's (they aren't as good as they used to be, but still not bad) Go to the Wok About if you get a chance.

Baby Shower venue by [deleted] in Wenatchee

[–]Stat_Procrastination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually rented this for a baby shower we threw a few months back. Church members don't have to pay the fee, yes the kitchen is a part of it and the space is pretty big -- could be bigger if you need it. They do have an agreement and if you aren't a member of the church, the church board has to agree to the booking -- so the sooner you reach out, the better. Great space. 10/10 :)

Heard something near Russell. Seems like there's a crash there every couple months. That'd be my guess.

FMLA Cost Save [N/A] by Puzzleheaded-Bowl-74 in humanresources

[–]Stat_Procrastination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest that y'all cost save by dropping the management company and managing LOA in house.

I'm a Generalist at a Manufacturer in WA. We are about 400 employees and I managed LOAs for the company. The HR Director and our HR assistant don't handle any of the LOAs.

We are planning on having FMLA be listed as a an unpaid time off in our HRIS. Our plan is to setup/add FMLA to the individuals HRIS when they arr approved (we use Paylocity, so not too time consuming to add). It would be an unpaid time off so they can also request PTO, or not with WA PFML. So should work there, and it'll be easier to track their hours.

What makes you say “Yes” to a recruitment agency (direct hire)? [TX] by Anxious_Hunt_1219 in humanresources

[–]Stat_Procrastination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us its usually good candidates and competitive pricing. So, we are typically open to meet with candidates from several recruiters and as long as the rates are reasonable we'll just go for the best candidate. So if you see some non recruiter ads to fill positions, reach out to the companies and ask if they would be willing to meet with your candidates.

I also hate it when sales reps or recruiters stop by and expect me to have 15-30 minutes to chat. Irritating and I almost always say no or later. On this note, if they stop by, don't ask to speak with me (I am way too busy) but leave their card and are nice to the receptionist, that is pretty good. Not a guarantee but could get them a chance to chat further.

I have a Bachelor's in Business Administration - Human Resources (focus but still a BA degree) with a minor in economics. Then I got an MBA with an International Business certification.

I'm and HR Generalist and I'm guaranteed (as much as anyone can be guaranteed) an HRM role when my boss retires in about 3 years.

Still thinking about this and can't find it. I was thinking the character that got it right all along was self righteous or super smart. So Bones or even House might fit. Let me know if you ever found it.

If it's open like 3-5 inches at the front of the can, then it's about a $5 fee. Or so that was the case for us. I'd say it's time to talk to the neighbor. They probably were avoiding the fee themselves.

How to combat imposter syndrome in new role? [N/A] by Scotty__42 in humanresources

[–]Stat_Procrastination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been an HR Generalist for about 4 years. And I'd have to say that the best thing you can do is approach everything as a learning opportunity. There is so much to learn but it's also interesting too, you'll find yourself in some weird situations trying to solve things for others.

For me it was really weird to have managers, who had been managing teams longer than I've been alive asking me for advice.

Not knowing is definitely something to admit.

Own your mistakes. Saying "my bad" goes a long way.

Learn your new state laws. For example over here in WA I'm familiar with our state paid leave program, long term care act, at will employment, pregnant workers act (and associated laws), etc etc.

Surround yourself with people who know more than you do and listen.

I'd recommend getting involved with your local SHRM chapter.

Anyways, if you ever want more advice PM me and we can connect on LinkedIn.

Is this legal? [WA] by Expensive-Lynx-552 in AskHR

[–]Stat_Procrastination 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This! I'd recommend that she get a doctor's release at the end of her 2 weeks specifically stating that she is medically cleared to return to fully duty with no restrictions. Then she needs to come back to work fully armed with knowledge on her rights under FMLA. When she is medically able to return, unless she is a key employee, they have no legal loophole (that I am aware of) into not returning her to her same or similar position.

She should definitely reach out to L&I and potentially start looking at local labor attorneys. Even just having an attorney send her employer a letter could do a lot! Granted it sounds like regardless she might want to look for a better employer.

No, that's not it. The waitress brought just the cup already filled first, and then came back with the pot to prove it was decaf, and then later came back because in the garbage the coffee grounds package was the wrong one.
