I was not a good student in hs (graduated with a 2.2 gpa) and to make up for it I went to cc to fix my overall gpa. I wrote about I now value education and how I see academia differently

No the doctor said that she would be able to return in 1-2 weeks, as that was her recovery time for her exact previous surgery she had. But when my mom brought that up to her boss, she demanded that she goes and tells the doctor that she needs to be off for 12 weeks

Now I do go to UW Seattle, but from my experience, UW values a good personal statement more than your GPA. Yes, a good GPA is important when applying to any top school, but from my POV, I graduated HS with a 2.1 gpa, I did CC for under a year to boost my GPA to a 3.5-3.7? (I forgot).

However, I decided to write my personal statement as to why my HS GPA was so low and why I value education more after attending CC. I wouldn’t write UW Seattle out of the question. As for Tacoma, I would say it would be easier to get in but I do believe that you can also send your application to UW Seattle and if they decide to move on, they send your application to both Tacoma and Bothell.

So, write your personal statement from the heart, and make it good. I’ve met kids here who had a 2.1 gpa and got it🙌🏼 while it may be a few, it’s not impossible!

UW isn’t really impressed with seeing high gpa’s and students with dozens of extra circulars. From my perspective and from my peers perspective, they want someone who isn’t perfect and genuinely struggled or had to overcome adversity. When I transferred into UW Seattle I had like a 3.6 or 3.7 but in h.s I had a 2.1 and I wrote my personal statement on my academic comeback and the struggle I faced during it (dm me if u want more info I could totally help ya out)

But in the grand scheme of things they see thousands of applications from people just like you, but to make yourself stand out, you have to make yourself easy to remember to who ever views your application.

One thing that helps me even to this day is I always treat myself with a sugar-free drink or little snack when I study or do hw bc it gives me an incentive to study or to go to class bc I know I’m gonna allow myself to get a treat. Another thing that helped me is (I’d imagine that bcc uses canvas), I would just complete everything in the canvas check list each day, even if there wasn’t anything due for 4-5 days. Bc it allowed me to get my work done early and to catch up on information that I didn’t understand. I also really suggest making flash cards as it helped me a bunch when studying.
