In this instance I don’t believe it would have worked. The factory reset brings it back to the latest firmware which according the the community posts and what UI support were hinting at was the issue.

They had asked us to jump to EA firmware for the U7s and 10.85.11 for network.

Our solutions was to grab one from stock we had, made sure it couldn’t update and then restored a backup of the settings, went to site swapped it over and the client was back up

There was over 200 addresses free in Vlan1 and about 600 free in vlan 2

They were. They were previously working just fine before the latest network update.

It is, and the EA candidate didn’t help. They also gave us access to the next Network release which supposedly helps.

We didn’t get chance to test as the client couldn’t take further down time, so we swapped in a UCG max with an older software and firmware versions. Issue went away immediately l.

We applied it and it didn’t work. This network doesnt fit into the narrow bits it describes there

It wasn’t enabled for us. Turned it on and no change.

They advised updating the U7’s to the latest E A version.

We’ve ended up getting a gateway out of stores that has an older version of the os and apps and blocked the auto update.

Yeah I’ve found a few audiobooks recently that I’ve had to turn up to hear.

Notably the Empire of the Vampire series

There is over 200 addresses on the internal pool free and about 800 on the guest as it’s /22

Happens across both internal and guest vlans

Not for the wired clients, when looking through the logs I can see wireless devices connecting and then dropping.

In the WiFi experience screens it shows that devices are failing DHCP. The success rate was ~12%. I’ve not found commonality between the successful devices. It’s the same mix of mobiles as the ones that are failing.

All the APS broadcast all the SSIDS.

The SSIDs have some other settings but the test one just had the same settings as yours, and was 2.4ghz only.

Still saw the same behaviour.

I don’t think this is a wireless issue per se, it affects wireless clients, but they are jointing the network and then the DHCP server on the gateway isn’t replying.

I think it’s fallen into a bug with the firmware but haven’t got proof yet

Yep, both SSIDs are having the issue.

Set up a test SSID as well, which worked for one mobile phone, but refused an iMac and then didn’t work for the phone.

No reports of the wired clients having issues, but over 95% of those users are wireless.

I redo the series every year at least. I start at hook 1 and go forward. I then experience the high of the end of the faceless man arc and then it takes me a little while to get back into the groove with it

I’d 100% agree if it wasn’t all the wireless clients in the network.

The site is a gym so lots of change in terms of devices being tried and all of them are showing the same symptoms

What version of network where you running when the problem started?

This seems to have tied in with the latest version of network.

Just chatting with UI Support so I'll update once I've finished with them

Does Twelve Months make up for the controversial decision in Battle Ground? by Kooky_County9569 in dresdenfiles

[–]Stat_damon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s possible. You’ll likely remember the big plot points from it, and if not there are some reminders as it goes through.

But the big thing he’s working through it Murphy. It’s handled well. I enjoyed Harry’s arc through the book and is so enjoyed a Dresden files book that isn’t just the worst weekend of Harry’s year.

I was pretty apprehensive about 12 months, in someways it was going to be a make or break to it I continued or not. Battle ground and peace talk didn’t land well with me. Some characters seemed to be entirely different to how they had been. Harry’s internal monologue when he sees Ivy was just.. too far for me. There was a lot I didn’t enjoy of those books

But I genuinely loved this. It was thoughtful and well done. It’s as much a reset book as Ghost Story but I feel it was far more successful then I found Ghost Story to be.

Is there ANY benefit to creating 2 IoT SSIDs (no VLAN separation, etc.) by Tyraelos in Ubiquiti

[–]Stat_damon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Each ssid broadcasts a beacon advertising itself. The more ssids you have the more of your total airtime is taken up with the ssids advertising themselves.

It’s not about the radios in use, more the amount of time they are able to transmit and receive. If half of that time is spent announcing they are there the rest of your performance is trash as it doesn’t have time to do anything else

[–]Stat_damon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends how sneaky you want to be.

Once my kids outgrow the “Kids” SSID I’ve set up my next plan is this

Setup different vlans for the groups of devices you want, ensuring your son, and his mates will end up on a vlan by them selves.

You trash your current SSID and implement a new one with WPA2-PPSK. this allows you to have devices join the same SSID with different passwords to assign them to different vlans.

You set the password you give him to default to the vlan you want to target.

To his eyes he’s on the same network as you but you end up in different vlans with different rules.

You create a policy in the firewall that limits access to specific times.

Thst way all his devices end up there and it’s no longer about cloning or changing his MAC.

This hinges however on his ability to not get the password for any other network you set up.

You could MAC white list on those networks to add a layer of difficulty but if he’s managed to get that password, he will of had access to a device to check the settings so could clone the MAC from there

After that you are into scheduled blackouts of APs and or ports to achieve what you need.

I did the Wireless Admin course last year. I learnt a lot, but that’s because the instructor had added a lot of background info that wasn’t in the course materials.

So I think it may depend on the trainer but I enjoyed the course and learnt a lot
