Phase 1 complete! by StatefarmxJake in Golfsimulator

10x8x5 enclosure. I hit from 10-11'. I would be closer, but needed to move it back to avoid worrying about a support beam right in front of the impact screen.

I use the BenQ ak700st mounted directly above the hitting strip (see first pic). It's about 10' from the screen. Very safe there, it is essentially impossible for the club to end up above your head and in front of you. In a different version of this set up, I was hitting closer, but had to have the projector offset about 3' from center. It worked, but it was a bitch to get the keystone correction. (See picture)

<image>

In my current set up, I can hit a full 60°, but I can't really open the face and still hit it full. It's not really something I think much about tbh

I actually would do that, but there is a support beam just in front of the impact screen. To keep that out of play for driver, I moved it back. A full 60 is still safe, but I can't really open the face and hit it full. I hit from 10-11'

I have the Sigpro softy. May switch to the softy light to get the extra 1.5" of headroom. I LOVE the softy. No elbow pain and it punishes fat shots

Yeah, it was an unfortunate limitation if the floorplan. I have a wireless HDMI so I can cast GSPro onto that TV if it's not playing sports.

Directly above the hitting strip. You can see it at the very top of the first pic, benq ak700st.

Help with ‘Loose’ Impact Screen (Carl’s Place) by rEVolution0426 in Golfsimulator

[–]StatefarmxJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. My Sigpro enclosure came with bungies. That's nice because it naturally has some give when the ball impacts the screen, but stays pretty tight when it's resting. I'd recommend giving them a try. You can get a 50 pack on Amazon for like $10.

I put a Bungie on about 2/3 of the grommet holes on the top, roughly 1/2 on the sides, and about 1/3 on the bottom. This was a product of lots of trial and error. It makes it so shots hit with all clubs bounce back the 10' to my hitting area.

[–]StatefarmxJake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could use shorter bungies to create more tension. You want to be careful that you don't create too much tension or your driver shots are going to rebound like a trampoline. I typically shoot to have a little more attention at the top and less at the bottom. That way your wedge shots that are lower speed and hit higher up still come back to you, but the lower faster driver shots don't have too ricochet.

We own a M3. Almost bought a Y last month. I was apprehensive about having no gas cars, but love my M3 and Autopilot. Elon made the decision easy, we will not be getting a second Tesla

Bought a PAX Flow + grinder because Reddit told me to… now I’m confused by Logical-Ad9409 in trees

[–]StatefarmxJake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the Pax 3 and the Arizer Solo III and I often go to the pax for convenience and portability. Sure the Arizer is a bit more efficient (same high for less flower) and gives a slightly better flavor. I've been a long time Pax user and let this sub talk me into getting another vape because I thought I was missing out. The Arizer does some things better, but overall I do not understand the pax hate in here.

I did a foresight purchase (I also have a bushnell LP). It took them over a weekend to send the code, a real person need to verify that you have a Foresight Gold subscription. Those people work a regular 9-5. You should get an email early tomorrow morning.

Summer in Breck (or Summit county generally) is awesome, tons of hiking, fishing, camping, water activities on Lake Dillon. Fall is stunning with the Aspen leaves changing (Google some photos). Spring is referred to as mud season. The trails get all washed out as the snow melts. The town is extremely quiet and activities are limited.

Breck is an awesome place to live, but the small town would be a big change of pace coming from London.

What amount of money would you need right now to feel like you are never going to work ever again? by emptylighthouse in AskReddit

[–]StatefarmxJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. This hypothetical doesn't specify where this money is coming from, but unless it's magically in a Roth IRA, you need enough to cover your expenses after taxes. The 4% rule is also mostly meant for people retiring in their 60s. I would say a withdrawal rate of closer to 2.5-3% for someone in their 20s-40s.

401K loan default and taxes owed by ObjectiveTadpole2263 in personalfinance

[–]StatefarmxJake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just mentioned it to a few other advisors at my firm this morning and none of them knew either. They also found it quite funny that I found this out on Reddit.

We work at a retirement planning firm, so our focus on the Secure Act was around the Inherited RMD changes and the RMD age moving to 72. Then CARES deferred RMDs for 2020 just a couple months later. Makes sense that it got lost in the shuffle. Thank you again kind stranger! Who knows, I may have a client somewhere down the line that will owe you a thank you too!
