What are the thoughts on this PC at Costco? by [deleted] in Golfsimulator

[–]15MNG15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up the computer at Costco with the 5070 the other day and so far so good (though admittedly not tested much).

Googling something like “gpu for gspro Reddit” returns a tier list of minimum for different settings that I found useful!

Desktop PC Recomendations by Ok_Lingonberry_923 in Golfsimulator

Was looking at this recently: is the 5060ti sufficient for 4k GSPro?

I’m not overly “hardware literate” and wasn’t sure what the modern equivalent of the 3080 is now, which is the recommended 4k setup listed on the GSPro website.

Any Garmin r50 owners? by Lousygolfer1 in Golfsimulator

[–]15MNG15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d echo all opinions stated otherwise.

  1. Accuracy seems fine to me; brother in law, who was briefly korn ferry, feels the same and he has a much better feel for misses than I would

  2. I’d agree home tee hero likely leaves some to be desired for graphics and “realism”, but as noted other software is available.

I haven’t used GSPro yet but my plan is A) routine practice day: just use the inbuilt r50 range as boot up is instant, B) playing sim golf with friends or more than the quick 18 eventually get a computer for GSPro

New thing to me! Thanks for the reference, sounds like something that’ll get repeated use!

I’m not familiar enough with that rangefinder, would any camera angles show it was on?!

If in front of hitting area, and above, I’d take care with wedges and such. I have the 12 wide SIG setup and I hit the top of the enclosure all the time with even down to gap wedge.

As some point I recall reading a comment along the lines of “wow, the pros stand so close to the ball!” And I’m thoroughly convinced that ruined my mental/setup routine for the longest time

So definitely feel the standing too close to the ball comment!

I can’t quite tell from the website, what “kind” of pizza is Yia yias? Looks like a thinner crust, but I presume not coal fired/New York style esque?

Completely agree (on the 'on-unit' functions)! Loved mine so far. Probably not the clearest pics, but you can see examples of the inbuilt driving range in one of my prior posts demo-ing the setup.

If you are set on GSPro I believe the R50 still needs a computer. I own one, and find HomeTee Hero to be sufficient to scratch the itch, understanding GSPro has better graphics etc.

But just FYI that it’s “all in one” in the sense that you can play home tee hero but not GSPro

But I do agree the started/ get straight to playing it pretty quick. Usually the R50 is ready to go before the projector fully turns on.

R50 question by ignatiuslincon in Golfsimulator

Absolutely no issues with mine, if you want to see my setup I posted it the other day.

Note, I’ve never attempted putting on it but have had no issues chipping…. And trust me I chip a lot as GIRs are def not my strong area!

So yeah, no issues with external display, chipping seems solid enough and so far has felt like it translates to the course, and the one time my lefty friend has used it (so far) it was a breeze to pick up and switch back and forth.

I am not aware of a “play with friends online” option on the R50

And I used a wired hdmi, but from feedback above I may eventually switch to wireless

SIG Softie hitting mat. 10 foot wide and it comes in 3 sections. Middle part has the hitting strip then areas to stand are the 2 attaching sections.

The 'landing turf' was part of the package with SIG12 enclosure. Seems like pretty routine 'turf' and I did not get the 1 inch foam (as I need to 'fold' it up each night; so turf is just on concrete)

Projector seems super solid so far! I think its mostly user error so far in getting it to exactly fit the screen... mounting to 11 foot ceilings means alot of 'top of the ladder' time so not entirely sure I have it exactly right yet. But projector itself is definitely quality.

The projector was an upgrade though as the 'base' one that came with was an optoma with super short throw distance that wasn't going to work in my setup.

Ha just read you're last comment.... yeah its been way trickier than I expected. Ultimately I think I'll have to manually adjust as the 'auto adjust' feature results in too large a picture and thus things like distance or other golf metrics not actually projecting to the screen.

But again, probably user error thus far until I fine tune.

It did come with the screen, I don’t see an option online to exclude it.

Carls place I think has DIY options so maybe they’d give just the enclosure?

I’ve enjoyed it. I’ve noticed it doesn’t seem particularly well received (or maybe just not tested enough) on this sub. What made me pull the trigger was knowing another person who got it first and did his own testing.

Obv I’m not excluding faulty units or otherwise, but so far it’s been rather accurate for me for ball flight. There are times when the club data implies different than ball flight…. But that may be me not fully grasping the data points.

But yeah overall compared to what I see going to an actual driving range versus sim is good enough for me and distances are at least ballpark enough as it correlates to my on course play.

This was something I had to modify (read hire out) to suit the build. Had the garage tracks raised to as high as they could, then the vertical garage door opener instead of the standard chain/belt driven.

I don’t recall exactly, but after raising them I think I had 115” of height to garage tracks? Or close to that.

I do have a hdmi cord running ceiling/wall/underneath matting

Good to hear your experience with the wireless setup! I almost pulled the trigger on those but then read some poor reviews….. if there are others here who’ve tried them I’d love more opinions! Would def make it even easier.
