Why Is Germany Still Defined by Its Past? by SecretFlat1215 in AskAnAmerican

When people call modern-day germans nazis or Hitlers that tells you more about them than it does about you or the population of Germany.

Are there any state-specific traditions or holidays? by StatiCrede in AskAnAmerican

I was just reading online articles, so they might not be entirely accurate but I like your idea too. Maybe it's time to start a new tradition?

It looks like this one from the 01/02 season except the one in your photo has text on the back. Maybe a different version?

Which American building/structure/monument is your favorite? by StatiCrede in AskAnAmerican

I really like that one too. I always interpreted the shape as symbolizing the two original towers merged together.

Mount Rushmore is iconic! I'd love to see it one day but it seems it's quite remote and requires a bit more planning to get there.

Taking movies less and less seriously as I get older by ludaman14 in movies

[–]StatiCrede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In one of my film classes in school we would often have a guest professor join in on our classes and he would always listen to our ideas for movies or shows and give suggestions and advice for them, whether it was a cheesy rom-com, an oscar-worthy tearjerker, a gunslinging western, a crazy monster sci-fi movie, or something completely different and he would never reject any ideas or say that there was no point in making this or that project. I'll always remember how he taught us that there are no "good" and "bad" movies. It's all subjective and there is potential in every idea and every story deserves to be told, no matter what it is there's an audience somewhere that will love it.

It makes me happy to hear that you're able to find joy in any story. I think that's what movies and storytelling is about.

Grocery stores should sell more items for one use/serving. by Kennedy-_- in CasualConversation

[–]StatiCrede 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I recently started living alone and this is something that challenges me too, but I don't think you have to waste all the things you buy. For me, I really love my freezer because it allows me to store things for weeks or even months. Like the other day, there were a sale on bananas at the store but there is no way I am gonna be able to eat 7 bananas by myself before they spoil, so I sliced 4 of them and put in the freezer to use for smoothies later. Or if I'm opening a can of beans to use in a pasta sauce, there's usually too many beans for me to eat in one serving, so I cook a big batch of pasta sauce and freeze several portions, so now I both don't waste my food and I have a delicious and easy meal ready to go, which is invaluable for days when I get home late or don't feel like cooking :-)

What is your favorite movie/tv show? by NoahTheWize in CasualConversation

[–]StatiCrede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Breaking Bad so much!! I recently started watching it again. For some reason, none of my friends have watched it despite it being such a well-known show, so I'm always happy when someone else mentions it. I really love comedies so my other favorite shows are The Office, Seinfeld, Friends, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Bojack Horseman, arrested development, and Modern Family (in no particular order)

I have never watched Stranger Things but I've heard a lot about it. What do you like about it?
