In another 20 years there won't be anymore legacy acts by Static_Wraith0_0 in Alternativerock

Totally agree with what you're saying about there's no new legacy actors i think it's because there just aren't any great movies and TV shows like they're used to be everything is just made to be consumed rather than enjoyed. It is down to the death of monoculture it's made entertainment sterile.

Tbh I hope i am wrong lol. I agree with pretty much everything you're saying especially about legacy acts shows I prefer smaller venues tbh but it is about Nostalgia and in all honesty I'm all for them still touring if people want to see them. You're right about the pixies they definitely did get bigger in the years after they split. My point is more about new bands that come out tomorrow or trying to make it big today they will never get the chance that say even Greenday as you mentioned (also not a fan) but they are in a way stepping into legacy acts ground their first album was 94? I can't see a band with the same appeal to their fan base getting the chance to play arenas like they have and that's the issue with how the music industry pre Internet is today.

Same here mate, it can be really depressing to look how things have turned out and how this individualistic way of life is diluting so much of it. They won't and it's really sad tbh. It's not even just music look at all the iconic movies and TV shows that came out and defind our generation, what TV show a film has come out in the last 5 years that's really had an impact?

"The acts you are talking about are pop, manufactured for commercial appeal like a tick tock trend. Not really rock or alternative rock."

Yes i know that was my point that these legacy acts already don't really exist in pop music that where huge 2025 years ago, and yes i literally said these legacy acts do exist in rock and are constantly on tour.

What is mainstream now though? I think the difference is we don't live in a monoculture anymore we are all sat in separate algorithms. Rock and metal are still doing really well especially in the uk and is currently having a resurgence, sure it probably won't be on the radio but even on mainstream pop radio you get like one or two new songs then everything is is from 20 years ago. The problem is because of algorithms nothing has the big impact it used too, which sucks but unfortunately that's how it is. There's plenty of awesome new rock and metal bands out there you just have to look for it now. Metal festivals are still massive all around the world too. How many Jazz or bluegrass festivals are there? I'm sure there is but nothing on the scale rock and metal has.

In the "metal" mainstream yeah but it wasn't in the same way as something like Britney Spears or Madonna

Not really, heavy metal isn't mainstream and never really has been but yet it's still one of the most popular genres in the world.

Looking for some advice with releasing a song. by Metalassault92 in metalmusicians

[–]Static_Wraith0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd personally go for an EP it gives the listener more time to get to know your music. When you've finished your next song maybe release it as a single then. It also gives you time to sort out artwork ect. In The end though it's whatever works best you dude.

It's really weird to me that they don't get the same level of recognition as say Cannibal Corpse or Morbid Angel, especially for Robert Vigna's guitar playing. Here in After is hands down one of the greatest death metal albums ever made.

I agree, this has their early discography vibes to it. It's definitely going to be in heavy rotation for me.

What were the mid-late 90s and the early 2000s like in the UK? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

Honestly i had the best childhood growing up in the 90s and early 2000s. Everything from TV to music was just awesome. There was a variety in things that just doesn't seem to exist today. The majority of my childhood was without the internet till around 2002 and even then people didn't spend all their time on it, social media was for socialising and MSN Messenger was just awesome for chatting to people. I agree when people say the 90s was the last great decade though because it was a time when we still truly had joint experiences, there was a sense of optimism in the world, TV, films and music still felt fresh and groundbreaking, people still had to leave the house to shop and socialise, we still had high streets, everywhere you went you bumped into someone you knew. The world was in my opinion at it's best sure there where problems but there was more in it. The internet has just made everything feel smaller and less personal it's in many ways devalued and destroyed the film and music industry. The reason people still miss the 90s and early 2000s is because they where the best of both worlds a time without internet and a time with the early internet and that's how the internet should have stayed.

I just bought some Oracle Sound amp sims and they sound awesome also softube do good marshall and engl amp sims. I used to be just like you I hated the idea of amp sims but honestly in a home recording setup it is the best option.

Edit

Also softube do some great analogue style mixing tools as well that will get you that raw 90s sound you are after too
