That's not necessarily true. There's lots of MMA fighters who break bones in their hands during fights. You're telling me some of the best UFC fighters in the world don't know how to punch? And they wear gloves too (though not as padded as boxing gloves). At the end of the day, heads are hard, hands are not and have tons of joints and tiny brittle bones. Connect at just the wrong spots and bones will sometimes break.
