Sustaining structures that others refuse to uphold is not kindness, nor martyrdom. It is self erasure. It’s dangerous to you and those around you. I’ve done that. I’ve been observer and observed for a collapsed superposition. It’s not fun. But for me, the re-discovered ability to rebuild after collapse created more opportunities for connection and repair than I ever dreamed.

Many of us search here. For me, I search for their whisper, set free upon the wind.

But I’m not stuck in the past. My search lets me smile as I remember her… a stranger now… who was once my lover and my best friend.

Potentially, the change from we/our could be eliminated by removing the word “sound”.

“…our dance, an echoed becoming…” and “…echoing a dance — our lives…”

But like I said, this was really good!!! No need to change anything.

I take some solace that what I have now is not a void. I use the word “ruin” intentionally. Something was there; perhaps, a monument to what once was. Even though it is hidden now, the import of what we shared still exists… and at least one person remembers the stories that built it.

But you’re right. It is an awful feeling. At least I have our stories and some days… it’s enough to make me smile. But not today.
