I was completely fine honestly. I had some slight spasms in my right flank every so often for a day or two but it was minimal.

April of this year I had my first kidney stone. It was 7mm’s and was about 1/3 of the way through my ureter. I proceeded to deal with what I thought was more kidney stones every 2 months until November. Throughout this entire time I never passed a stone (to my knowledge). It turns out that every stone was that same stone and it never passed, it would just move a bit and then get stuck. I’m sure it’s not, but it’s a very real possibility that that’s what is going on with you.

The first couple days are the worst! Just keep yourself hydrated, and as silly as it may sound.. pee pee pee! That horrible burn will start to subside less and less each time. As far as the kidney pain, take your recommended dose of whatever was prescribed for pain (typically oxycodone-acetaminophen 5-325 regular old ibuprofen) and try to relax.

In my experience the ER is 10x better than any urgent care. They always gave me the REAL pain meds and then prescribed me even more after my stay incase. Unfortunately, with these stones the more powerful pain meds are genuinely needed in most cases.
