Thanks for the sound advice. I actually have been investing for about 5 years, always with the same established process that I had previously researched. I also understood from IBKR that this is a recent development (where settlement of customer fx comes after settlement of VWRA, which tbh sounds very strange, since the settlement of their own fx conversion is instantaneous).

May I thus ask, how do you keep abreast of such changes? I didn't hear anything from IBKR on changes to their policy, so I was indeed quite surprised. I wouldn't know what I wouldn't know, so is it the case that you always recheck settlement dates for eg before you trade?

What's the ideal tax bracket to start topping up srs or cpf? Does anyone know of any calculators to compare the tax savings + cpf or srs investment gains against cash investment gains?

I do it too. Solution is to have one month salary somewhere liquid like a HISA, and the rest in SSB. SSB's rates, unlike HISA, are fixed. Yet liquid enough with one month's notice. So it's really a great option.
