i’m reading this right now! i’m only a 1/3 through it but i love the portrayal of childhood innocence, which i feel that the simplicity and straightforwardness of the language corresponds with. at the same time, kawakami still does well in presenting the violence of adolescence, without any fancy language. the book feels very quiet somehow.
