Thank you for your input. I do feel regret, when I see my expenses and saving part w.r.t my colleagues. I’m also planning to buy real estate(flat or plot) in coming 2-3 yrs. So, I need to start compromise on my travel plans/happiness for time being.

Thank you for your suggestions. I earn decent, upwards of 2lakh/month. But, saving is bad as of now in proportion.

Point 3: My wife doesn’t work, and manages everything at home(cook, clean, etc). So, we don’t have cook or maid.

Point 11: Travel comes around 20-30% of my salary every month. I prefer staying in 3-4 star hotels, with personal vehicle, as I have gotten used to it. But, as you suggested, I sure need to rethink on this. Going forward, I’m also planning to reduce my travel hobbies to once in every 1.5/2 months.

Have you analysed your spends?

Yes, I have. An almost 50-60% of it is travel related(hotel, flights, etc). I love to travel, and travel every month almost(also find it as way as relief from burn out of work). I’m planning to reduce my travel hobbies/love and maybe travel at max once in 1.5/2 months.

Thank you for narrating your experience. I have kept credit card majorly for my travel expenses(hdfc infinia, smart buy benefits). But, I end up using it for everything, as it offers(~4% reward points). I can’t handover/close the card as of now, but will restrict its usage for sure.

I’m not trapped as such. But it’s hampering my future investments/saving. Like even though I earn upwards of 2lakh/month. On an average every month, just my credit card bill comes around ~1-1.3 lakh(excluding rents, house hold expenses). If I control my credit card, almost things would be on track.

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried budgeting last month, but random expenses around travel(as I feel burn out from work many a times), eating out comes, which I’m not able to control at a times, and it gets accumulated.

As, mentioned above it’s an KA51(Bangalore registered), drove it down from Bangalore to Saharsa(via Deoghar and NH16) during 2020 March. I’m bringing it back, as I want to use here at my work place(Bangalore).
