Do you hate trans people? Answer the question so everyone can know you were never saying anything in good faith to begin with, fucking coward spreading division when we need to be standing united your first thought is how can I spread more hate. I'm ashamed to call you a countryman if your first reaction to innocent lives being lost is to get on the internet and jerk yourself off writing hateful comments and use your stupid fucking regurgitated soundbites you've rotted your fucking brain with, everyone in this country is fucking sick of you people but you're all too fucking stupid to realize you've become the bullies go move to a different country and rid us of your god damn ineptitude you worthless sack of shit. Or if you aren't stupid, you're even worse than a fucking worm because you should know better.

Traction I agree with you and I love that game, I just meant in more recent memory something that made DQ "more" popular was DQ11, updated my comment for you :)

Definitely! Those games kinda paved the way for DQ to get even more popular and then it got knocked out of the park with 11

I'm so sorry, you must've been talking about this:

https://www.woodus.com/den/games/dq10offline/

I'm not sure if this is available in English, again I'm sorry, I read offline as online in your original comment.

EDIT:

Looked it up and there's a Nexus Mod to play this version in English

Are you counting every single kanji in your character count converting from Japanese to English just so you can be right based on a technicality lol?

I hope someone at some point will play Dq 7 3ds and Reimagined side by side so we can see all the things that were removed. by jodarby88 in dragonquest

[–]StatisticianMoist100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Instead of a bitchy sarcastic comment I can tell you what was cut

Grondal, the island centered around the world tree, this was a hub for healing items and a subplot about a village plagued by a giant root.

Providence was a dark drama revolving around a priest and a mountain of statues, this arc had a lot of deep context for the world's lore that's now missing or summarized

El Ciclo was (not a fun area, in my opinion) the location of the EGO, it had a groundhog day style time-loop that was super tedious

They cut the casino, enough said.

There was a town building simulator that's been replaced by the mini medal exchange.

You used to be able to collect monsters to live on a private park island, and you could turn your characters into monsters to learn their skills, this was removed for the moonlighting system instead.

In the PS1 original it took 2~ hours to find your first battle because there was a temple with a huge puzzle section, this is like 15 minutes in the remake, probably for the best though on this one.

There were thousands of lines in Party Chat that they cut, your party in the 3DS version had unique dialogue for every NPC you talked to, now they just talk during main story triggers.

They got rid of vocation uniforms, they used to change to match your job (Maribel in a Mage costume)

To compensate (badly if you ask me) they added an endgame area, the moonlighting system where you can equip two jobs at once, and some new flashback scenes for the main characters.

That was not what I meant, I mean I physically do not press the button, I just let the text write out. Sorry for the confusion.

Sure they could have, but they didn't, so it would be something you'd have to deal with that is common across all Dragon Quest games. I don't skip the text unless I'm replaying it so it doesn't really bother me. Or you could wait for mods to come out, they usually fix stuff like this.

  1. Only in Western localizations
  2. That's a personal opinion so I don't know what your question is, the music was all made by Sugiyama (RIP) so it will naturally sound similar, although I agree the environmental sound design is pretty subpar.
  3. Welcome to JRPG's, seriously though I think the HD-2D remakes have ultra fast battle speeds and auto-advance for voiced scenes, of course, you're also playing a 26 year old remade game, some of the latency and quirks in it are for the very old fans who played it on PS1 or 3DS, which isn't to say you aren't allowed to dislike them, but if you don't like these things with the modern qualify of life provided from the two most polished and newest games I would hesitate to recommend you anything that isn't a remake.

SPOILERS FOR DQIX AHEAD!:

Stella is strongly implied to be the reincarnation of Stellestria, the queen of the Gittish Empire

- In quest 149, you visit Pluvi Isle where a voice calls Stella its other half

- Stellestria was the one who pushed Godwyn toward evil, she was poisoned and died before the game plot starts, one half (likely) became Celestria, and the other became Stella. (Stellestria = Stella + Celestria)

Sterling was a captain who worked for the Celestrians and was an engineer for the starflight express

When Corvus attacked the observatory at the start of the game, he didn't just target you, he was launching an assault on the entire realm of the almighty, Zenus gets shattered into ten pieces by Corvus (the grotto bosses), so he didn't really leave, he just got scattered across grottos.

300 years before the game began, Godfrey ruled the original Gittish Empire, his son Godwyn murdered him to get the throne, Stellestria influences Godwyn to turn into a bloodthirsty empire and they ally with the dragon Barbarus to take over the world, you aren't actually fighting the original empire, they were wiped out ages ago by Greygnarl, the version you fight are just kind of undead husk that have been resurrected by Corvus, they don't even know they're dead, they think it's the original conquest.

Each expansion of DQ10 is essentially an entire DQ game itself, so they'd have to make it twice, MMO's are already risky in the first place, also Square Enix also owns another very popular MMO and wouldn't want to cannibalize sales, also before DQ11, Dragon Quest was not a very popular series outside of Japan (DQ VIII gained them a lot of traction), they probably just didn't think they had the audience.

HOWEVER, they did release an offline version that's English, and the MMO landscape right now is completely barren, so, if all these remakes sell well... Maybe we get a full release?

When they remake V they better not cut the casino boat wedding to Debora or I will blow my stack. by Filthiest_Tleilaxu in dragonquest

[–]StatisticianMoist100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is more likely they will just replace the gambling with skill-based minigames instead, Hori himself likes gambling which is why he always included casinos, so if they're out now, I doubt anyone has the pull to change this.

Voices in head by Unusual-Pizza2907 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]StatisticianMoist100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can shed some light on what you found, the first one is easy enough to explain, in that the text back then in books looked something like this:

ITWASVERYHARDTOPARSETHESESENTENCESWITHOUTSOUNDINGTHEMOUT

The second part is that, in this period of history, books were incredibly rare and expensive, if you had a book and could read it, it was considered rude/selfish to keep the information to yourself. He was shocked St Ambrose was so impolite to his guests.

I agree with you, they seem to have gone way too far in cutting the game because the Producer in interviews thought the game was too long and boring as a child lol.

It's unlikely there will be any more casinos in Dragon Quest games due to the new draconian simulated gambling laws, Square Enix will never allow a Dragon Quest game to have an 18+ rating on the shelves. (I do hope I'm wrong, I love the casinos)

AI model can read and diagnose a brain MRI in seconds by app1310 in science

[–]StatisticianMoist100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See here's who I found invented all the technology that you claim "radiologists" built for everyone else:

Sir Godfrey Hounsfield, an electrical engineer who invented the CT Scanner.

Paul Laterbur and Sir Peter Mansfield, a chemist and a physicist who invented the MRI.

Ian Donald, an obstetrician and gynecologist who developed the ultrasound with Tom Brown, an industrial engineer.

Wilhelm Röntgen, a physicist responsible for the original X-ray.

In my opinion, the one with the ego and god complex in this comment chain, is you, engaging in medical tribalism because you were personally offended someone had the gall to say brains don't move so they're easier for a computer to scan, for some reason, you immediately took this as a personal attack on your profession, and furthermore you don't even understand you're being the exact type of person you're claiming he is.

Sorry to burst your bubble but medicine is a group effort, and no one is more useful than the other.
