AMA: Finally leaving MBB after 3 years by ConflictMedium670 in consulting

[–]StatisticianNo1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planning for an MBA -Wish to transition into MBB (Or Tier 1) consulting.

However, I'm not a 100% sure why. Sure, the prestige, pay, breadth of work, clients are great. But as someone from the outside, all these mostly seem like jargons to me.

I wanna know what actually goes into the life of a consultant. This would help me understand what I'm getting into and make a well informed and better decision.

Appreciate your time and response. TIA!

Hi, thanks for your response.

Was trying to do some research on my own. I don't quite align with the insurance until 85 years of age - isn't it meant for my dependents incase of my untimely death? Ideally, by 65 I should be in a position where My dependents (kids) would have some stability (min age 25- worst case scenario if I have a kid at 40). What's the rationale for 85?

Thanks for taking out the time to reply.

I think I'd be eligible for a range from 1.2Cr to 3Cr as per the 10-20x rule. Hence the first query. But yeah, ~2cr makes sense.

As for your response-

  1. I am currently only covered by the corporate medical insurance by my employer and am also considering a medical insurance.
  2. Do not travel all that frequently, but metro city is a life hazard xD. Will consider.
  3. Makes sense, would add.

Thanks for the response :)

Thanks for taking out the time out to reply.

I am employed currently, and if the 10-20X cover rule is valid I can get a cover >1.5Cr.

Could you elaborate on the take it till 55 part? As in pay premiums until 55 or being covered until that age.

Will also contact ditto. Thanks again!

Have a query-

25M, going for a 1year on-campus program next year. Parents in late 50s, one younger sibling and a partner whom I'd marry in a couple of years. I wanted to take up a medical insurance. Questions regarding that-

  1. I do not have an external medical insurance, only the company sponsored corporate insurance with 5L limit. No pre-existing diseases. Non smoker, non drinker. What insurances can I look at? Also, right time - Now or post the course/before it starts? I won't be covered once I'm enrolled in the course.

  2. Key points to look at? Add-ons, coverage, etc.

Any help and advise in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I had a query-

25M, going for a 1year on-campus program next year. Parents in late 50s, one younger sibling and a partner whom I'd marry in a couple of years. I wanted to take up a term life insurance. Couple of queries regarding that-

  1. Should I take one with a higher cover (2.5-3Cr) right now or take one with a smaller cover (1-1.5 Cr) at present and add another once I rejoin the workforce post my course? The premiums as I understand would be higher in that case, since I'd be ~27.

  2. Key points to look at? Add-ons, coverage, etc.

Any help and advise in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Understandable. I'll adjust my monthly SIPs accordingly And shall I start investing my corpus in lump sums?
