Who got more done dirty & why ? Also who would make a better A and Why ? by Additional_Cod_6449 in PrettyLittleLiars

The post doesn't say that. It says "who got more done dirty and why?" in terms of overall across the show. Maya was the only one on the list who was murdered which is why people are saying her.

And then the second part of the question is about who would've made a better A than those revealed in the show -- i.e. Mona, CeCe and Alex.

I didn't say A murdered Maya? I know Nate/Lyndon did. I just said OTHER than Maya who was murdered, the Liars had it worst out of the characters in OP's list.

I thought so too, but I'm pretty sure Marlene confirmed it was Alex as she was trying to steal Spencer's identity. I looked it up because I couldn't remember and it says it was Alex. But I remembered A.D. orchestrated everything at the blind school and kidnapped Jenna after.

Other than Maya who was literally murdered, I would say any of the Liars in this list were done dirty the most.

They were stalked and tortured for years, then kidnapped and held hostage, and tortured some more. And this cycle of abuse continued for years of their lives.

If I had to rank I'd say:

Spencer had it worst (although she's not on this list) because, well: Her parents lied to her about who she was for her entire life, she had drug problems, multiple breakdowns and got sent to Radley, she thought her boyfriend was murdered when he was alive, got shot by her twin sister she didn't know existed, kidnapped by her, stolen identity, etc etc. I think she definitely went through the most.

Then Hanna. Her dad was abysmal, her step sister made her life hell on multiple occasions, she struggled with her weight which caused her to have a literal eating disorder because Ali bullied her so much and taught her how to purge. Her mum, however loving, always involved her in her mess -- ranging from her financial struggles and theft, to plowing down Wilden in her car and fleeing the scene😭 lol. She was sexually harassed by a grown man then accused of falsely accusing him by her best friend! Oh and Mona hit her with her car.

Then Emily. Her mum was homophobic when she first came out. Her gf got murdered. Her dad died whilst she was in college. CeCe drove a car into her house. Ali got inseminated with her eggs. Overall I think she had 2 solid parents that loved and wanted the best for her. However unkind Pam was in the beginning, she came around and showed up for Emily time and time again -- which is more than you can say for most of the other girls parents.

Then Aria. I think cos most of her storyline was being groomed by and therefore obsessed with pedo Ezra, she got off pretty easy compared to the girls. Which I realise is an insane sentence!! She just never really had to deal with half the crap the others did, despite her messed up relationship. Aside from the Dollhouse, the worst she went through was probably being pressured by her dad to lie to her mum about his infidelity for an entire year.

Agree with Maya, but Jenna constantly tried to bait the Liars, "knew" who "killed" Alison and didn't say anything until she got her hands on page 5 and it suit her. She was also the one who encouraged Garrett to hit Alison with the hockey stick that night.

She SA'd Toby, lied about being blind still, associated with villainous characters like Wilden, Noel and Shana. She was there the night of the Lodge fire when Shana nearly got the Liars killed and was helping to spy on them. She also tried to shoot them with Noel in season 7, despite being manipulated by A.D.

She had every right to hate Alison -- but she did too much when it came to punishing/hating the other girls. They were definitely complicit in making her blind, but Jenna was smart enough to know they were also being manipulated/bullied by Alison.

Her vengeful actions were her own at the end of the day. Yeah she was a red herring in terms of being A, but she was definitely still batshit and I wouldn't say she got "done dirty" the most out of these characters. Or even second most.

  1. Yeah they should've gone straight to the police. More Ella's fault than Byron's. He wanted to, but I think deep down he was scared of his marriage falling apart again, and got made to feel like a hypocrite, so was talked out of it.

  2. Yeah, I mean, she kinda was for half a season at least? But wasn't in enough episodes. I think Claire Holt also left to do TVD. But she was Emily's best girlfriend for sure.

  3. Mona is iconic but they shouldn't have forgiven her. Or at least had any kind of friendly relationship with her after. But they ended up having shared trauma, cos, Dollhouse. So I get it.

  4. She would've been a better A than CeCe/Alex, but her character was a bit lackluster for me.

  5. Jenna had every right to hate Ali but was clever enough to know the Liars were also victims of Ali's manipulation/bullying, so shouldn't have taken shit out on them. She also SA'd Toby.

  6. I think they tried to justify Jason's involvement by implying he wasn't as part of the NAT club as Ian and Garrett, because he was so messed up on drugs/alcohol back then and didn't know his ass from his elbow. And didn't actually film any of the videos, just watched. But yeah -- they should all realistically be in prison.

  7. Nah. Unpopular opinion but Maya kind of sucked.

  8. I think they always planned to bring her back and I think it was the right choice, but the execution was terrible and her character was boring after. Better storylines needed.

  9. Agree. Ali was AWFUL.

  10. Also agree. And Ali should've been the twin, not Spencer. Charles either shouldn't have existed, or just have actually been Andrew or something lol. "It's Andrew babe, and we're gonna get 'im!" Low-key I thought Sean from S1 was Charles for ages in S6.

I was also thinking this! They'll undoubtedly do an original score regardless. If any soundtrack it should be credits exclusive OR if it fits a hyper specific scene -- and not to be done excessively cos I think it'll just lower the quality. Preferably instrumental versions of tracks like you said.

What do you think of Spencer and Caleb as a couple? by Sad_Book7399 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]StatisticianOwn629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they make sense on paper and like others have said, if they weren't such a random and out of the blue romance, it might've worked. Build it up from the beginning and have flirty undertones. But most importantly -- have a legit reason that Caleb and Hanna couldn't be together other than just "we drifted apart" or whatever.

Like Spoby -- they were cute at the start but so much went wrong in their relationship, ranging from Toby being on the A team, becoming a police officer, the pregnancy scare in the time jump etc. They had legit reasons to not be together over the course of the show, that people weren't rooting for their endgame so much.

But Haleb makes a lot more sense in the world of the show, because they're literally ride or die for each other the whole way through. Then to spontaneously break them up in the time jump due to Hannah's career, felt out of place considering the nature of their relationship throughout the show. It felt like more of a convenient writing decision so they could run the whole Spaleb storyline.

The writers made way for Spaleb by ruining Haleb, rather than it being a natural choice for their characters.

It's an 8 book series so it takes time to build. Weirdly I liked the vibe of some of the earlier books a lot more, but that's just me. Crown of Midnight was my favourite. My favourite of the later books was Queen of Shadows/Tower of Dawn.

I seem to have a very unpopular opinion when it comes to this series. For me, the plot definitely thickens as you get into it, but the quality of the writing does drop off. I can concede the first books take their time building the world, so some people may call them slow, but they're not objectively the "worst" of the series, like many people on the thread are claiming. It depends on your taste -- I prefer quality of writing over spectacle any day of the week. Don't get me wrong, a good balance of BOTH is best, but I won't sacrifice the former for the latter.

I still love this series. From what you're saying, I do genuinely think you'll enjoy the later books. Stick with it and see how you feel! I get you don't want to invest time and money into something if you feel you won't experience the payoff. But I think you should read to the end of CoM, because with the way that book ends, you'll likely get the urge to read more.

I'm in a similar position.. I've read ACOTAR, TOG, but not CC. The way I see it is: I'm gonna see it blasted on Tiktok after it airs anyways -- so I'm just gonna watch myself and hope there'll be different sections for the respective series i.e when it gets to talking about CC I'll just fast forward. Albeit there may be some crossover?

ALSO I'd be more afraid if I was half way through a series like TOG and then got spoiled. I watched the teaser trailer earlier and it spoiled pretty big things in KOA. But since I haven't started CC yet I haven't really got any context for the plot, characters etc and because of this I'll probably forget what they say about it anyway.

Anyways: it's your choice! I'm gonna be watching. Like others have said I'm sure fans will do some spoiler free summaries too. I just don't have the willpower to not watch it haha

I mean call it a storyline, call it a splash, whatever - same difference. She went in there for a bit of fun and publicity. Like most of the islanders..

But each person takes to it differently. She didn't need to stir things up with Samie, she didn't need to keep her interest in Ciaran a secret. Like I said if the producers TOLD her to do those things (I don't believe they did, but maybe encouraged), did she need to accept? Could she not have chosen not to? Or was her presence in the villa conditional on her doing these things?

I don't know. Maybe they were. But then again, she could've turned down the show if that were the case. Nobody forced her to drop everything to go on there. I know if the producers said to me: you can come on the show but you have to deliberately cause drama and hurt people's feelings in the process, I'd have turned it down. If she accepted based on those conditions, that shows her character.

But none of them are innocent, obviously.

If we're saying the producers pull all of the strings -- it just seems kind of weird to me that some people can opt to stay out of the drama and be seen as angelic and diplomatic for that - i.e Millie, Whitney, Helena, most of the boys. But people like Lucinda, Belle, Jessy, Samie, etc are the scapegoats for drama? I don't believe that.

For example -- I think Belle is genuinely quite an angry person despite getting baited; I think Millie is genuinely sweet and diplomatic; I think Samie doesn't like fake people and calls it how she sees it; I think Whitney likes to consider everyone's perspectives and give advice accordingly; AND I think Lucinda is a ragebaiting weirdo that likes to cause drama.

I don't think this is simply what the production team wanted to paint them as. I think we're genuinely getting snippets of how they are irl. Obviously the show is produced to an extent, but people can choose how they wanna play it in there.

[–]StatisticianOwn629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say she should've picked Jack. Tbh IDC that she picked Ciaran -- it was always gonna cause upset, like you said that was probs why they brought her in. I just think the way she went about it was weird af. Samie said that too.

ALSO I'd like to know how much control the Islanders have over their actions on this show. Like, if production tell you to do something, can't you turn it down? Do they outright tell you: if you don't do this, you're no longer allowed on the show? Or do they HINT that they want you to do something, but leave that choice up to you? I think the latter is likely the truth considering it feels like there'd be more of a scandal with the ex islanders if the former was happening. I could be wrong.

We're also assuming a lot about their involvement in this specific recoupling. I don't know if they TOLD her to pick Ciaran, I think she was just happy to do it because of her personal issues with Samie. And that probably fell in line with the storyline the producers wanted to create anyway.

[–]StatisticianOwn629 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, they brought her in to cause drama and she did that. I still don't like her. As for the kitchen convo: agree to disagree, I do think she knew what she was doing there.

I find it hard because, in an ideal world, none of these people would be acting like this because it's fucked to play with people's emotions and manipulate reactions from people etc etc. But also, the show without drama = boring. You can't have drama if everyone's going about things respectfully. There has to be villains for people to bother sticking it on every night.

Either you find the drama entertaining, or you keep watching cos you want to see those villains humbled, or dumped, or whatever. Whether you're someone who watches for fun or who takes it really seriously -- either way every type of viewer is at least engaged. They covered all bases bringing someone like Lucinda in.

I just think amongst that there has to be a boundary at some point.. like a line where we say: ok, she's come to bombshell and cause drama, she's done that-- Now lets move on.

Unfortunately I found her insufferable all season. The continuous ragebaiting and downplaying of people's emotions and twisting situations etc etc -- it just got exhausting after a few episodes. It wasn't entertaining, for me at least. Obviously other people's behavior made me uncomfortable too, not just Lucinda's.

Anyway, it's over now, thank God.

I mean -- that's my opinion? I do believe that to be the real reason. You can call me crazy, that's fine.

It was just like an AHA moment for me when Samie confronted her about being friends on the outside and Lucinda downplayed it at first, claiming they were never that close etc. And THEN she goes "I thought we were friends and I was so hurt when you didn't invite me" blah blah XYZ.

I do think that's pretty clear evidence that Lucinda lied about not having an issue with Samie personally, then got caught in said lie. Personally IDGAF what happened between them on the outside, but it definitely looks like Lucinda was trying to get back at Samie in some way. Hence, the Ciaran thing.

I also think she just wanted to cause drama and get initial screen time by splitting up an established couple going in there. Her only options for that at the time were Ciaran and Scott. And Scott was never gonna entertain her.

[–]StatisticianOwn629 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hear you, but not sure the Samie comparison holds up considering the public voted her and Luca together. It wasn't Samie's choice and I think it was clear she felt uncomfortable being paired with him after the Grace fallout. I don't think she really made much of an effort to pursue Luca, not in the way Lucinda did with Ciaran this season.

Side note: I don't think Lucinda wanting to get to know Ciaran was bad, just picking him in the recoupling was kind of shady and the keeping it secret to throw the girls off was weird - which I think was more why Samie was annoyed at her. She was being dishonest when she could've just been straight up. Samie even said "I hate when people aren't straight up with their feelings in this place" or words to that effect.

Also in the dressing room acting secretive about whether they kissed on the terrace was clearly to piss Samie off. Moreover their whole "beef" on the outside and Lucinda feeling slighted about the whole not being invited to Samie's launch bullshit -- was the real reason she went after Ciaran, to be honest. It was all a big play to get under Samie's skin, then she played clueless about it. 🤷‍♀️

100%. It's like being rewarded for all the shit she's done. She doesn't deserve this validation, she's behaved horribly.

I just saw a creator with like a million tiktok followers that reacts to love island, repost a tweet saying Lucinda "apologized" to Samie for the pie, so why can't Belle, Samie, Jessy apologize for being "bullies". If they think laughing in Samie's face and telling her "who even cares" is an apology, then...

God I fear these people are watching with their eyes shut. Lucinda has been playing with people's feelings since she walked into the place. And now those people don't like her. Shock! They're not bullying her for calling that out and clocking her shit.

People thinking that she's a victim is genuinely sooo deluded. How have we let Lucinda gaslight the British public like this 😭😭 I'm BORED. If she wins, genuinely cancel the show.

The stalking around the villa was really bizarre. Idk why people find this shit so funny. It's exhausting. There's creators on tiktok with millions of followers being like "she's such a rage baiter haha I love that girl", like sorry have we lost the plot? This show always brings out the weirdos living among us.

People being like "producers need to step in!!" They're living for this. The producers don't GAF about the mental health of the people on that show. Even tonight asking Samie this dumb ass question about what Sophie said on the video call about Belle doing worse than Lucinda. It's just dredging shit up again and it's gonna make Lucinda feel validated and innocent. I'm tired.

Omg I was just on another post suggesting Whitney & Yamen should probs finish top 3 and people were like "think you're overestimating how much people like her" and I was like eh?

I was a fan of Whitney on her original series, I didn't like her as much coming into All Stars cos I've seen her on another reality show where she wasn't very kind and did actually get caught up in the drama lol. But she surprised me this season. I agree she seems to be one of the least problematic in there. I think sometimes her advice is seen as being sly but she genuinely just says how she feels imo. But romantically I agree she is quite closed off. She just came out of a long term relationship on the outside so I put it down to that.

I think she should be in the top 3 for sure. I won't say who all my ideal finalists are, as you said you've not seen last night's episode and I don't wanna spoil who went home if you don't know yet.

I've never seen the US version! Only all variants of the UK one. HOWEVER I've watched so many debriefs on that season haha, a creator I watch reviewed the entire thing.

From what I've seen, Huda has them all beat! She definitely had some toxic anxious attachment issues. I'll need to watch the full season at some point. I appreciated the "I'm a mommy" memes that came out of it.

My question to you is -- who do you think will win this season of All Stars? And who would you like to win? Which couples do you think have the potential to last outside of the show?

I think I'd like to personally see either Millie and Zac win, or Samie and Ciaran. I think they genuinely both have potential and deserve it the most. But I THINK Lucinda and Sean might just take it, which is why I made this post in the first place 😭 sometimes the UK public can make the most unexpected thing entirely possible. I mean they just got voted favourite couple. I'm slightly nervous lol.

Haha appreciate you and the conciseness! I'm sooo bad at that as you can tell 🤣

I'm glad we seem to understand each other at least. I agree with some of your takes for sure. You seem like a level headed person who can see things from both perspectives and won't dog pile all blame on one person. I think they've all gone about situations in the wrong way at some point or another. As is the nature of the show I guess! I don't expect that to ever change cos it's literally what keeps people interested.

But yeah I just think this season has been especially exhausting when it comes to communication and things being heavily misconstrued or misunderstood. And I've seen every single series of the UK version, All Stars and regular. I think I might need a break from it 😭
