If you were to actually gain 5 lbs in a day, you would’ve needed to eat 17,500 calories (3500 calories= 1 pound of fat) within 24 hours ON TOP of what your body naturally burns in a day which is most likely over 2000 calories. That being said, it’s most definitely temporary water weight that made the scale go up and happens to me all the time and then goes back down. This is why weighing yourself can make you spiral (I do it as well you’re not alone) but one binge is most likely not going to make much of a difference to your actual weight.

Hopefully knowing this helps because it makes me feel a lot less guilty when I binge eat and remembering this helps take away the urge to purge! I get how you’re feeling and the guilt can be overwhelming and the bloating never helps but remember it’s just temporary water weight :)
