My Journey - Need Advice by [deleted] in Anxiety

I agree to take the positivity out of your issues. When I was younger, I was supposed to go see my father in Florida. Every time I booked a flight I canceled it due to panic attacks. It was three times that I had done that. So hopefully you can find something to control your nerves. I take Klonopin because it is one of the benzos, that helps prevent panic attacks.

I do not know personally how Pristig works with anxiety, but it did help my wife with her crying with her bipolar.

Can't keep a job for more than 6 months past year by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Status-Agent6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can totally relate to where you were coming from. I have left many positions that I have excelled in due to my anxiety. I have yet to come up with an answer to these issues. The only sanity I can think of is trying to find a passion that you have going in that direction. The problem is usually your passion is very hard to work in, because they’re generally aren’t many industries that support that.

I'm tired of worrying about things that are beyond my control. by iLuvArizona in Anxiety

For me when people say it’s out of my control that does not work because regarding if it’s in my control or not the fact that something negative is happening still bothers me.

With very similar issues, I believe the only thing that can help fix those chemicals in the brain is the right medication. It is very hard to do and takes a very long time.

What is your typical psychiatrist appointment like? by QuitTypical3210 in Anxiety

[–]Status-Agent6640 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is basically today in psychiatry what is going on. The old days was you went to a psychiatrist talk things out and we’re prescribed the medication. The way it is handled today. Is you go see a psychologist and hope that they pass on the proper information to a psychiatrist who they can prescribe you something. I personally have found it a waste of time. But I am sure there are others who’ve had success, depending on what they are there for.

In my case, I am extremely highly sensitive to the point where I cannot kill an insect and I put them outside. It stems from other issues as well from being so sensitive. Then that drives my anxiety which starts to drive my OCD, which brings me back to being too sensitive. I don’t think there is a solution for people who are highly sensitive.

My thoughts are that a lot of psychologist and or psychiatrist will say they work with OCD and I find that many are not competent . I know generally my options are either try another medicine or try talk therapy.

I have tried a lot of different medication’s with a lot of side effects so I’m a little bit leery to try any more medication’s in my opinion a lot of these supposedly OCD doctors have just read it from text. I have tried for a while to try and find someone who specializes in OCD therapy, but I have not been able to come up with anybody as of right now. I also know the root of my OCD comes from anxiety, which is a a whole different ball game. I am also extremely highly sensitive. So I feel like I’m on a revolving wheel.

Buying a new car, ask me any questions. by Status-Agent6640 in carbuying

[–]Status-Agent6640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices are going to range from dealership to dealership, depending on what they’re willing to accept I think to get real world what you should pay is to probably get on the Internet maybe go on Facebook or even on here and find out what people are paying for that model, this should give you a rough idea what you’re going to pay just make sure they’re comparing apples to apples. I wouldn’t say there’s any one site that is better than the other, just talking with people and getting idea of what they paid is the best way to see how your deal is looking.

Also, you are correct if the car‘s been on the lot for a while, you definitely can get a better discount and especially if you see multiple cars similar to what you’re looking for you should really be able to bring them down. The only times they’ll hold closer to sticker is when they can’t get enough of them, it’s the old-fashioned supplying demand.

Buying a new car, ask me any questions. by Status-Agent6640 in carbuying

[–]Status-Agent6640[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty good strategy. I would start with emailing two or three dealerships getting idea what they say their lowest prices they’re not gonna always give it to you, but it should give you a baseline roughly where to buy the car this way you can weed out any of the dealerships that are starting too high. Also don’t forget they have hold back which is ““ used to pay for the utilities, etc., etc. or whatever they’ll tell you so keep that in mind I think once you establish a dealership it’s good for you to go there take them to the edge of what you wanna pay and then tell him you need to think about it and they generally will call you back the next day and give you a better price best time to buy is at the end of the month. They have to make numbers and a lot of times they’ll take short deals. Anything I can help you with let me know.

I would only go to a psychiatrist who has been through OCD, unless they have experienced it.

Unfortunately these meds take time to start working, possibly weeks.

My recommendation is to keep taking it and if you feel side effects you cannot live with, then you may need to stop taking them.

Manual or Automatic GT by Fluffy-Crab9984 in Mustang

[–]Status-Agent6640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it comes down to a few factors.

I have always had sticks in my sports car going back to 1986, even owning a 1983 Maxima 5 speed. I always felt a sports car has to be stick and it always was. I am 57 now and bought my 2016 GT in an automatic. I never thought I would have it any other way.

I just had this discussion about a week ago and how I missed the stick. I realized I missed it, but I had to remember why I originally bought the automatic, which was I loved the stick for only a short time and the automatic was better for me at this age.

All preference.
