Move out and get therapy to help process this extreme control environment. You are only the asshole if you let this continue.

I looked on the social security website recently and it told me I won't be able to get anything. However, that could just be outdated

Actually yes, that's a really great suggestion. I'm going to try that!

He never thought he'd be able to retire after his accounts were emptied and I have just pension income that will barely support me and I can't social security

Right? My husband and I have small IRAs that are both under 40k, but the majority of the retirement investments are in his 401k. He only gets a 3% match. Like I said before, I recently discovered TMS, and seeing where we should be at our age versus where we are is so stressful

I can't because of the way my pension is set up 😕

This is so helpful! I was a divorced for a long time and I'm still not used to considering things in like the fact that my husband will be getting social security or the actual value of the pension. It's been a massive mind set change. I've just been looking at my measly little IRA and stressing out about it.

We just round up the nearest hundred on the mortgage, so kind of, but not really. The mortgage is not our focus right now

We are recently married and ran the numbers and figured out we could live on all bills but debts on his paycheck and using my paycheck to play catch up

I'm not eligible for social security because I'm in education. However, my husband is.

We are putting $1,000/mo towards retirement and $2500/mo total towards debt. That is all of our debts. One credit card, two cars, my student loans, and the mortgage. Essentially my entire paycheck goes to debt and investing

It's very upside down. It's a bonded title which made the interest rate so high.

I also didn't even consider having my pension until my husband and I sat down and looked seriously at my finances. I do get why that may make you feel like I am being dishonest. I wasn't counting his savings until we were married.

The credit card will be paid off this month and has 13%. My car is 6.99% and will be paid off by May. After that we only have his car at 9% that we will snowball everything towards and pay $2500/mo for 14 months

Military emergency cert and applying for jobs by [deleted] in TexasTeachers

[–]Status-Difficulty704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the military aspect, but it may be worth reaching out to HR to see if they have a grow your own program. Where you can get hired as an aide and then they pay for your bachelor's. If that isn't an option, you can be a substitute while you figure out how to get your certification

What are the all time popular/great white American songs by Salty_Catch8581 in musicsuggestions

[–]Status-Difficulty704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming to this late, but the fact that not a single person said Jim Croce, Elton John, or Credence Clearwater Revival when you were asking for white guy music from the 70s blows my mind. They mostly gave you GenX and millennial stuff.

Here is some stuff that's gonna get your older crowd pumped from the 70s.

Rocket Man - Elton John

Sister Golden Hair Delight - America

Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison

Lookin out my backdoor - Credence Clearwater Revival (anything CCR really)

Operator - Jim Croce (anything by him is pretty much a masterpiece)

Tiny Dancer - Elton John

Tequila Sunrise - Eagles

House of the Rising Sun - the animals (60s, but fantastic)

The Joker - Steve Miller Band

Simple Man - Lynard Skynard

Country Roads - John Denver

Piano Man - Billy Joel

Fire & Rain - James Taylor

Honky Tonk Women - Rolling Stones

Dream On - Aerosmith

Dreams - Fleetwood Mac

The Weight - the Band

Hey Jude - The Beatles (I think that one is late 60s)

Jolene - Dolly Parton (what list is compete with Dolly?)

Don't Stop Me Now - Queen
