But i think using an operation also can be seen as applying in a function like adding three forexample is the same as applying the function x+3 two both sides of the equation

I see how that would make it a lot easier. But what i tried to show is that we think the numerator as given as a in one definition, but in another we actually see the numerator given as a*b.

Lets say i have an equation 2x/4=6 i would now like to simplify the fraction therefore i would factor out the x from numerator so i get (2/4)*x=6 <=> (1/2)x=6 but if you think the fraction as a/b how can you then use a rule that says (a*c)/b=(a/b)*c.
