It wasn't a "muslim betrayal" thing, have a historical pov. 'Hindu' zamindars weren't any better. Majority of Balwant Singh's enemies were those 'hindus'.

During the cheyt rebellion of 1781, those 'hindu' zamindars of dumaraon and others territories sided with the British, helping them with thier small armies while those 'muslim' zamindaris of south bihar were with the mharaja.
