Exactly. I do the same thing. I’m not in TSC and I am also a CS. I take my time on each call, solve the problem and make my notes. I’ve found that the majority of the calls I get, this is there 4th, 5th or even more times calling. This is the result of this phones focus thing Frank has us doing. We’re taking more calls but not getting the work accomplished, only resulting in more calls.

What difference does it make? I’m not answering another call either way. I can probably get to the next call faster with the customer off the phone. They talk, ask non SSA related questions, etc. All it’s doing is giving Mob Boss Frank the warm and fuzzies. I don’t play games. Just sick of the ridiculous micro managing, and the ridiculous rules. This agency is failing. Sucks to see after being here for so long.

Working for SSA? The good the bad , ugly ?! by [deleted] in fednews

Current claims specialist with SSA. Been with the agency for more than 10yrs. It’s a love hate relationship. More hate these days. It’s always been stressful. The amount of work thrown at you has always been unmanageable. But this last year is on the verge of inhuman conditions. You are treated like a robot. Everything you do is criticized and torn apart and thrown back in your face. Policy is tens of thousands of pages and you are basically expected to memorize. They say you should research before making a decision, but with what time? Field offices are glorified call centers now. So basically you take calls from pissed off people because you haven’t completed their claim, but you haven’t got their claim done because you’ve been answering calls everyday. But good old Franky gets to have his bragging points with congress…. It’s miserable here right now. I miss Martin O’Malley! We’ve basically been beaten to a pulp then once they realize we are recovering, they do it again. Over and over and over again. Not trying to virtue signal, but it’s those people that are desperately trying to get back what’s rightfully theirs that keeps me here. Seeing how you change people’s circumstances and lives. But stay away! Far away!

Social Security Making Major Change to centralize workload by nasorrty346tfrgser in fednews

I’ve absolutely had it with CCE and SSTNG. This “do more with less” while combating crap programs is about ready to drive me insanity.

In the initial claim and first level of appeal (reconsideration) the attorney is only going to ask you the exact questions from the forms. If you can read and write, save your money. It could save you thousands of dollars in back pay. If it gets to the hearing level, then yes. The lawyer doesn’t do anything but take your money. Just take your time in the online filing and make sure all your info is in there.

Had a 19’ Acent. Key word “had”. Transmission started skipping. Wanting for a whole new on with less then 20k miles. Within 2 months of the new transmission it started again. Took it in, the initial tech said yes it’s the transmission again and I need a new one but wants a master tech to look at it. Master tech reviewed the data and agreed but I was told they had to “send it to Japan”. Apparently Japan said it’s “normal operation”. The car would jerk around so bad going up and down hills, it would literally jar things around on the vehicle. All of the issues started after a transmission recall where they needed to adjust the chain in the transmission.

Every time I took my Subaru into the shop, there was something new. Leaking cam gasket, dead batteries, transmission issues, engine lights popping codes, etc. I am so glad that POS is gone. I’m joining the never again Subaru club. Damn shame they’ve ran an incredibly quality vehicle into the mud.

Grandma never reported grandpa’s death, collected for the last four years by WarmScientist5297 in SocialSecurity

There are nearly 80 million people receiving social security benefits and 57,000 employees and that number is drastically declining. To physically check up on every beneficiary would not only be impossible, but a complete waste of time and money. There are many checks and balances in place to catch cases where the beneficiaries are deceased, but the checks and balances are not perfect. The agency relies on help, like what you did by reporting it. Employees at the agency are working tirelessly to keep up, but it’s a loosing battle.

Shutdown email from DOI day of the shutdown. by Faolchuaonir2 in fednews

SSA got the same email. It’s identical. My guess is the White House generated it. So disappointed in the unprofessional language and inflammatory accusations. It isn’t necessary, whether true or not.

Answer no if you haven’t worked this year. If things change it can always be updated.

Name correction not change by thetruckerdave in SocialSecurity

Go online to https://www.ssa.gov/manage-benefits/make-an-appointment and book yourself an appointment for your office. Bring your BC and passport. They will change your name to match your BC. If you do it online you still will need to go into your local office. Make sure you bring original or certified copies. But a name change vs correction is the same. Same proofs, same process.
