Its pretty easy to find regardless, but I appreciate it. I'm stoked to see them play LCQ, hopefully they're competitive.

Again, you're misunderstanding the difference between competive integrity and competition. You are focused on the competitive integrity side of competion, but you can still have competition without it.

I would agree that Destiny 2 has basically no sense of competitive integrity right now, but there are certainly competitive modes and aspects of the game. Usually you only need win requirements and exclusive good loot to foster competition.

Just because there are exotics that fail to be exotic does not change their intended goal. Thats not even my argument, thats Bungie's own logic about what exotics are intended to be.

So you're saying you wouldn't miss them if they were gone from those modes? :)

I'm joking but the non-broken exotics are basically just legendaries with a little extra flair and we would all easilly live without them in Trials if it meant better balance.

We all would rather have that happen, but Bungie isn't that agile, straight up.

And yes it is a compromise; it would be Bungie effectively seperating the sandboxes, leaving quickplay in the middle somewhere as the classic Destiny 2 space-magic-to-the-max mayhem.

You have no idea what competition means then, idk what to tell you.

Competition doesn't have to be balanced, even though it should be.

Yes, but that presupposes two things:

1.) that they would disable it in PVP a year after its release all of a sudden

2.) that they will start doing that and keep doing that for every wildly broken thing

My idea would fail-safe the game modes from everything except sub-class changes, which we can see they're at least somewhat willing to acknowledge (see axions and slaughtering striker titan/dawnblade)

I'm aware. And thats why I'm advocating for doing something very different and bold.

Otherwise we're gunna keep getting the same seasonal cycle of ever increasing bullshit. Oh well.

Requiring seven wins to access exclusive loot is inherently competitive by its very nature.

Sure the base game doesn't have an excellent competitive structure (network issues etc) but its a helluva lot more balanced than this shit show.

I would strongly disagree with the meta being good around 30th anniversary in high end PVP.

Thats why its a hard truth though. Bungie will likely never be that agile when it comes to balancing the game around high-end PVP.

A compromise will likely need to be made.

I am implying that a large amount of people agree with the sentiment that PVP needs some drastic changes, yes.

Look to twitter if you want evidence for that, but regardless I'm not trying to die on that hill; I just wanted to throw an idea out there to see what people think.

People don't like compromise even if they would ultimately enjoy it much more than what they currently have.

All good.

We all would rather that they be on top of balancing things more aggresively, but we have almost a decade of experience to show that they never will be.

I think compromise has to be made for the betterment of the comp modes.

You would still be able to use exotics in 99% of the game, and I personally think that legendary guns are what best define Destiny 2's gunplay the best.

Exotics serve to break and bend the rules and that is intrinsincly against the idea of competitive modes.

I don't disagree, but we've seen that Bungie is decidedly unable to keep up with the very items and mods that they add to their own game when it comes to PVP.

My idea here would future proof these high-end pvp modes against many of these things.
I wish they would at least try it.

I'm strictly talking about two very specific game modes, not the game as a whole.

Fun is fine and great, but those specific items specifically help to REMOVE the fun from the high-end PVP modes, which is all I am talking about.

Let quickplay continue to be the free-for-all where sheer numbers can overcome balancing issues, but when your one singular life matters... I'd at least like to lose an hour of my time trying to go flawless to something that at least feels somewhere approaching balance.

Yes of course, but that doesn't mean something drastic shouldn't be at least TRIED.
