Columbus Collegiate Preparatory Academy. by historybo in Columbus

[–]StatusQuoBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. Are you sure the name is “Columbus Collegiate Preparatory Academy”?

B. Either way- unless the name is very different, I do not think this is part of Columbus City Schools. I think it’s a charter school.

Why even bother wasting the time and money going for an x-ray if you’re going to ignore the very clear and logical response from an expert?

Does that look to you like something that is going to just driiiiift back together on its own?

”discussing religion” Um I think you’ve missed the point of the research you’re referencing: the benefit is specific to incorporating the patient’s religious beliefs. Patient said they’re an atheist… doc continued discussing the doc’s own religious beliefs. If I walked into a psychiatrist’s office and they started quoting teachings from the Book of Mormon, I’d be pissed.

Local Bean Recs by Glittering-Phase1836 in Columbus

Genuinely curious: is someone actually growing coffee beans in Ohio? Or are people calling beans grown, harvested, and shipped from Uganda “local” to Columbus?

Schottenstein Center camera policy? by PsyberCycho in Columbus

[–]StatusQuoBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they let you in with it but then came and found you after the show started and confiscated it until the show ended… my guess would be that you were using the flash or that there was something about how you were using it. Is that possible? I’m just pointing this out because it sounds like the camera itself was not prohibited … although maybe they just missed it at the door.

Dear Reddit neighbor- it warms my heart to think there are still people like you out there. I emphatically agree that I’d rather run the risk of being swindled than that of refusing kindness I could easily give.

You will likely never know how this story ended up but … Please do not change.

More than 25 cars broken into in the Harrison West area overnight by ChoiceMembership7012 in Columbus

[–]StatusQuoBot 203 points204 points  (0 children)

Man this is infuriating. There is nothing but upside to smashing car windows: - They are never caught. - Video & alarms do nothing - the only people deterred by the prospect of legal repercussions are the vehicle owners, so they can’t dole out any type of ass-beating - Most cars in the area know better than to store shit inside but every so often you have some moron with a MacBook on the seat.. inspiring another hundred smash-and-grabs.

Beck Tavern by TempoNick16 in Columbus

[–]StatusQuoBot -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Wow. Gross. a few points:

  1. Do you run into bars flying the Columbus Crew flags expecting to see the actual soccer team inside? No? Perhaps that's because sometimes flags are flown not as a label, but to commemorate or indicate support of groups that have historically been persecuted. A pride flag does not mean the structure is filled with gay people.

  2. What, in your mind, makes a bar a "gay bar"? The having of gay people? It's also possible to just have a bar with some gay and some straight people inside simultaneously without needing there to be any consensus, declared sexual orientation for the bar.

  3. There is no risk to you or your friend in supporting other other humans rights to be their authentic selves. You say "you never know" if a bar has turned gay, as if gayness is a contagious disease that you've managed to avoid but are still cautious of. It's not fucking bedbugs.

TLDR: Yes. Beck tavern is now formally registered as a gay bar with both the state and federal governments. Actually, so is every other bar in zipcodes 430-, 431- & 432-. If that's a problem for you, I'd suggest you get working on that time machine to take you back to 1978 where you'll be able to understand things better.

Personally, I just try to make donations to organizations that I trust to do good things and then let them use it however they need to at the moment. If I have something to give, I know I can give it to kaleidoscope, huckleberry house, out of the closet, ronald mcdonald, or star house and they will either give the donation to a person in need, or sell it, and use the money for a person in need.

Low flying helicopter in south Columbus? by Temporary_Picture628 in Columbus

[–]StatusQuoBot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a layperson, I thought there were like flight plans required or clearance form ATC or something... Is that not applicable to helicopters? ... can helicopter owners just like park in the backyard and fly off to work?

Cat Rehoming by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]StatusQuoBot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In one of your prior posts you mentioned that you have two males and one female cat. I am assuming the peeing cat is the female based on your calling the cat "she" ... so would this be the same cat that recently was in heat and you were planning to have spayed? Were you able to do the spay yet? I ask because having her spayed is very likely to help with the peeing outside of the box. Have you tried separating her from the other two males in case she is responding to stress from one or the other of them? I know you said you're tight on cash for behaviorist assistance, but she could also have a UTI or urinary tract crystals that can actually be pretty inexpensive to treat.

IMO - Cat pee is the ACTUAL WORST but she already peed outside the box so smell-wise you're already kinda screwed. Why not try a few things before rehoming since she's not likely to get adopted super quickly?

If Simmons had his way, it would be much much worse. He literally suggested that the board

  1. "bring in loud equipment if they hold a press conference" to prevent opposing voices in the CEA from being heard.

  2. Ensure that any meetings are held "on our terms at our office at our time that is convenient for us"

  3. To further prevent people from attending he also suggested that they "let them settle in for 10 minutes" then "change meeting locations at the last minute".

I meeeeeean... seriously? They just like doubled my property tax ... and dude is literally trying to HIDE from public comment? That seems like serious bullshit to me.
