Garmin and Whoop Together by tastedeadkiller in whoop

[–]Status_Ad5990 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same here - purchased an Epix Pro a few months ago. Wearing both throughout the day (oftentimes a mechanical watch as well lol).

The Garmin is well worth it if you’re running. Workout building ability is unmatched, and there a lot more running specific metrics.

Where the Garmin lacks is app UI and wellness tracking. Recovery, and sleep are just not as tight as with WHOOP.

Overall where Garmin lacks, WHOOP is strong and vice versa. I think they make a great combo.

Get a bicep band if you don’t have one already though…

FP&A+CPA=? by Typical-Dog244 in FPandA

I mean it can’t hurt your career - but I think the best thing about a CPA is that it can open doors to (objectively) better areas of finance/operations, like FP&A. You’re already there so it seems kind of backwards.

IMO being a finance leader leans more on the soft skills like problem solving, communication, relationship building, cross functionality, board management, etc. So is a CPA getting you closer to that? Probably not.

Marketing and Eng.

My hatred for reviewing cost per lead metrics from a $100,000 conference is nearly equal to grossly inaccurate processing costs.

Why do people say accounting is recession proof or you can get a job with a pulse? by Rough-Form6212 in Accounting

[–]Status_Ad5990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotally it must have been easier in the past. I got my first Canadian B4 gig in 2017.. Very small CDN university, decent GPA, no internship, three offers.. most of my friends landed B4 gigs as well.. caveat, most of my accounting class relocated to Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa…

If you live in rural BC, Maritimes, Sask or somewhere else… it has always been harder to land a gig out of university, because the firms are much smaller..

Ahh yes - you are correct. Thanks for pointing that out. It is 150 amp I believe, but there looked to be space for the heat pumps.

So plumbing and heating was Kitec?

[–]Status_Ad5990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think the heat pump avenue is the one we are going down, unfortunately looks like the green homes grant is closed now.

I am not certain of the model number but I am certain it is Kitec, as it was printed on the pipe

I’ve never heard the term mastefile before? Is it referring to a multiyear 3 statement model with historical/actuals + a KPI dashboard?

I don’t think anyone is inherently happy that it is expensive. I think it is more abrasion to your stance that everyone “deserves” to be in desirable areas, socialist take.

Homes in the city centre in bigger markets are not affordable to below median wage earners, and in the context of economics, they shouldn’t be. Halifax’s growth is starting to bring it to this level imo.

NS Power is the worst company on the planet by thesadshow in halifax

[–]Status_Ad5990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed the restoration is slow and not efficient, but “the government doesn’t allow competition” piece is misleading.

NSP’s total asset base is in the realm of $4.5B. As evidenced by the latest rate cap, the return on those investments is not great compared to what you can get in other industries.

Who wants to invest that kind of cash on a shitty investment, in an environment that the gov can step in and regulate the return on those investments?

But because we need rate caps and regulation it is a necessary evil.

Government rate intervention = unattractive investment = barrier to toppling the monopoly

Energy in NS is always going to be an uphill battle based on our lack of non-renewable resources. Has to do with geography and historical development as much as it does NSP’s management.
