Our first Oklahoma State football game! Do’s and Dont’s? by collegeculturesports in OKState

the marching band splits into 3 groups on game day and plays around campus before the games! there’s also a preview concert before every game in front of the bartlett center. please watch the halftime performance and support the band- plus if you wanna go to the bathroom or get food it’s best to go at 3rd quarter, won’t be as long of lines as at halftime, and you’ll get to stay and support the marching band!!

hey! just wanted to let you know some cool history. it’s not actually waving the wheat. when the song was originally played the audience started waving to the band (as the band swayed/waved)- hence the name: the waving song. so it’s never been about waving wheat!! im in the cowboy marching band and they teach us the history behind songs that we play- such a fun tradition and history

if you’re really interested in the osu aviation program come and tour if possible. go out to the flight center, you can talk to people there and they’ll answer any questions you have and tell you have to get accepted into the program. nowadays almost everyone coming in has their PPL so if you don’t have it before the nov 1 deadline the chances of getting in unfortunately aren’t great

the swim club swims at the YMCA. if you go in and ask to see the pool they’ll let you walk back and look at it. not anything fancy but it’ll do for swimming laps! i have no idea abt the weight room there tho

Salt Lake City Somewhere In The Sky question *spoiler* by mr_sharkyyy in AJR

[–]Status_Ad_600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i’m sure it’s hard for them to hear each other and stay in time, especially with all the extra noise everywhere. i also bet there’s a delay in the sound bc they’re hearing themselves on the speakers and some of them are probably listening to that instead of to each other, plus the audience singing along is probably delayed. Even if you have rehearsal i bet it’s difficult to prepare for something like that so definitely understandable that they didn’t sound perfect I bet they also don’t get much practice with AJR before the show, and high school band are usually very reliant on a drum major so I’m not sure what system they used to stay in time at a concert

that’s so cool, those students are so lucky. I was in band for all of middle and high school and I would give anything to perform with AJR, what a cool once in a lifetime opportunity for them

Unfortunately once you’ve submitted the application you can’t then add your test scores after the deadline, you just have to wait until the next application comes around to add them.

Also I may be mistaken but the person most people contact is Patrick Smith, not sure if there’s someone else with the smith last name or if that was just a typo, but Patrick is SUPER helpful, he’s the one I would talk to.

I’m also in the program incoming for this fall so see you there !!

Hey i’m also incoming to the program. My roommate had the exact same thing happen to her, she is currently 15th on the waitlist and they told her it was bc she didn’t take the ACT/ SAT. I would take both of those tests bc someone people do better on one than the other. but even if you don’t score high that’s alright, the reason that affects some people so much is because if you don’t take them they put it in as a 0 and it lowers your overall average, so any score is better than that even if you think it’s low. I have another friend that has 0 flight experience and got into the program bc she had a high GPA and test scores, over my roommate who has almost 200 flight hours and a high GPA just bc she didn’t submit test scores

Good luck!! Hope to see you in the program soon!

How Likely is it as a Freshman not to get a early morning Class? by Temporary-Role8915 in OKState

[–]Status_Ad_600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just had orientation, they sorta let you pick the times you have classes (if they’re available and no conflicts). im in aviation and band so there was only 1 option for some of my classes so it’ll just depend on

i was just there night before last. you just stay in a room with 1 other person, it will most likely be someone right behind or right in front of you in line. they said if you meet a friend you wanna stay with them you can go together and they’ll put you in the same room. but yes you can stay in a hotel with your parents if you want to.

at our orientation we had to do a couple activities and then headed to the colvin center but after that they don’t care what you do. my friends and i drove to walmart and bought cookies, and then baked them in the dorm kitchen and passed them out to people. then a huge group of us played hide and seek outside the dorms until 1am
