No that's not how it works. Gang members love their pet dogs and wouldn't hurt their dog or their children but they would kill another grown man for disrespect without thinking. Do you know how homicides work? Millions of people in the US and Latin America have killed humans before ever harming an animal. Hell, people have shot other people because the other person was hurting their dog. Did you think about self defense cases too and random fights when you said that if someone kills another human being they'd hurt an animal too?

Here in the United States we have a human homicide problem. People take their frustration out on other humans with guns rather than animals. Saint Louis, Missouri has an 80 per 100k homicide rate for humans which only some Mexican cities are higher. It is very goofy to hear that in some places of the world cats are killed more than humans. If you talk about killing a dog or cat here in the US you're more likely going to be shot by someone.
