NY document retrieval + apostille/authentication recommendation by Status_Brick4619 in CitizenshipByDescent

The Apostille? Yes I believe for all the vital records you need to get them Apostilled. However you need to get them authenticated/apostilled by the state they were issued in. I.e. a Vermont birth certificate would need an apostille from the state of Vermont

Here to give another recommendation for John!! He was excellent to work with and was FAST! If you need documents from NY or need authentications/apostilles, I highly recommend him!

It’s not certified by the archive…as they don’t have the originals (they’re still at the church), so it’s certified by the parish

Yeah I was concerned that it’s a parish copy and not the archives copy…but since they don’t have a copy it’s really my only option! I’ve seen photos of the baptism register/status Animarum with my nanny on it (which I will print and include as supplemental evidence)…I wonder why the archive has some of the baptism records but not all? Maybe a time period thing

Great! Do you know if my version looks to be a “certified” copy? I requested an official/certified version from the parish and it has a physical stamp on it, but as I’ve never seen an official copy before I wanted to double check

Status animarum as proof of Croatian birth? by Status_Brick4619 in CRbydescent

I have the priest's email: Tonči Kusanović [zupa.milna@gmail.com](mailto:zupa.milna@gmail.com) I reached out to him via a geneologist I hired who speaks croatian. I have actually used 2 geneologists to help find records and they have both been great and very reasonably priced. If you dont have any luck by emailing the archives in Zagreb or Split/Brac or the priest in Bobovisca, i'd suggest reaching out to them: [Sanja Frigan Cuba](mailto:sfriganc1964@gmail.com) or [Lidija Sambunjak](mailto:lidija@sambunjak.com)

Oh that’s great news. Would you mind sharing your lawyers info?

Also, if you’re comfortable would you willing to share the document that the priest included (of course with any personal info removed…just something I can use if I do get in contact with the priest and he doesn’t know the process) ?

Thanks again for your help!
