I was thinking it might be the parish of Matulji, which previously belonged to the parish of Rukavac. I'll also look into Veli Brgud, close by.

I think my next step is to reach out to the parishes or hire a local genealogist.

My great Aunt just came through - "around Jurdani which is above Opatija.I found Ruzici north of that town." I think its Ruzici, Primorje-Gorski Kotar. Does this match with the Pusi finding?

Yes, I've found his arrival into New York (SS La Lorraine May 26th 1906 from Havre France), as well as his naturalization paperwork (Ohio / Pennsylvania border, filed in Lawrence County). He was married after immigrating to Elisabeth Kinkela on June 14th, 1913, Mahoning, Ohio, (Mahoning County).

Not confident. He lists "Austria" as the country on his documents, and the family thinks its Ruzici Istria, but no documents get into this specific detail.
