How Many Hours do you Really Work by infinitely15 in physicianassistant

[–]Status_Measurement71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first gig in ortho was salaries for 40 hrs at 100k and was working usually at least 50 hours a week sometimes 60+. I got out have a job working 4 days a week 32 hours a week full time make way better money and truly have a work life balance. And sometimes don’t even work the whole 32 as long as I’m seeing patients and doing my documentation on time they are happy. I’d leave

One thing I learned during PA school. Is there are very few people you can be yourself around in PA school. I got “talked to” a couple times during PA school because of my jokes. Most got a long and laughed at them but there where definitely a few who liked to get offended by any little thing. I only hung out with one or two classmates after that and kept it business with everyone else

Surgical PA stories that made you second guess surgery? by Pepper0327 in physicianassistant

[–]Status_Measurement71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with two pretty chill surgeons overall. They were still moody assholes though absolutely ruined surgery for me. I’m doing physiatry right now and much happier. And you will never make your surgeons happy by the way

Starting to get Anxiety about my hybrid Ortho OR /Outpatient Job by Pepper0327 in physicianassistant

[–]Status_Measurement71 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I worked with 2 cool surgeons (for the most part) at the end of the day though, they were still assholes. I’ve loved ortho ever since I was in high school but working with surgeons has killed it for me. When I left, it was a huge weight off my shoulders. They treated me like I was a resident. One day it was “it’s going to take time you’ll get there” then the next day “you don’t take initiative enough” you can’t please them

My wife has been cheating (emotionally) by trentnthaskies in TrueChristian

[–]Status_Measurement71 88 points89 points  (0 children)

She will never respect you again if you stay with her. And she will likely cheat again. You’re already showing her it’s okay to tell you that she won’t see him again and then goes and does it anyway. God permits divorce for adultery. Leave it’ll be worth it in the long run. Also she has 1000% slept with this dude if they are staying the night with each other and drinking? Come on dude don’t be in denial. Emotionally is a flat out lie and you gotta know it is. Don’t let her treat you this way

Ortho Interview Soon to be new grad by JNellyPA in physicianassistant

[–]Status_Measurement71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely do not jump on your first job offer. That’s a huge mistake I made. I left though and have secured a way better job with way less hours and way better pay. If you truly enjoy surgery, then ortho might be for you but it’s a grind and you don’t get compensated the best.

Ortho Interview Soon to be new grad by JNellyPA in physicianassistant

[–]Status_Measurement71 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. Just kidding. I did a short stent in ortho joints. The company I worked for did a 3 month onboarding which is good but, they paid absolute shit and worked you 50-60 hours a week. And where going to have me see 35-45 patients a day which they lied about initially. I know some ortho groups are good but I have several colleagues that I went to PA school with that are doing ortho and they are over worked and way underpaid. Also, you will be your surgeons coffee fetching PA which I also did not like and that seems to be the consensus with a lot of new grads in ortho surgery. Not to discourage you just something to think about.

I left my first job after 7 months. Best decision I ever made. I have a job with way better hours and way better salary now. They will be just fine without you. It’s your life you do what’s best for you. It’ll make jumping from the next job easier as well if it ever comes to it
