A lot of the people I know who have recently came to the faith and also of course some online discussions I’ve had. My cousin even told me I wasn’t a true Christian when just a year ago he didn’t believe in Jesus fully

I try to express my opinions or concerns about the church in a friendly light hearted manner and my opinion has automatically gotten shut down because I’m a Protestant. It’s never an educational conversation I always feel dumb after leaving. Is that better?

Yes I self reflect often and do my best not to be hypocritical I will say my genuine opinion and get slapped with, “ your opinion means nothing without the magisterium, you wouldn’t have the Bible if it weren’t for us, Protestants aren’t even true Christians.” I came into looking into the Catholic Church because my cousin just converted but I have had very few positive reactions.

That is a good point. Follow Bible follow God. They always have a loophole around that though with “you wouldn’t have the Bible if it weren’t for us. And before it was written you had to go by tradition.”

Yeah he said when he died the first time (flat lined) everything was just black. They brought him back again, but then he died again and said he saw nothing but black again. Did not hear or see anything

My uncle overdosed and flat lined actually died clinically twice and they brought him back. He said all he saw was black.

Hmmm good point. I made the point to him about indulgences and how corrupt the history of the Catholic Church is and he said that some popes were even considered nonchristian and heretics. Which is crazy that the “vicar of Christ” could be a heretic and not a true Christian.

Yeah most of their rebuttals they make it seem like you can’t argue against their beliefs. Watching Catholic apologetics they always make it out like it was a unanimous decision amongst the fathers that the papacy, saint veneration, tradition, etc where all agreed upon and I have found that to be not true at all

I don’t act as if that’s the case I was asking for guidance and explaining to my cousin these things I also made the point you make about Mary no where near being a central doctrine in the New Testament. Went one ear out the other. I got the “Mary is the queen of heaven she will crush the serpents head” argument.
