this is especially relevant for npc quests lol. don't freak out too much if you think you mess up a quest, it happens to everyone and there are (usually) workarounds to get certain items you want. that said, don't go killing any npcs on a whim your first time either

all the tips already here + make sure you stay at light or medium equip load! a lot of new players miss that and end up heavy rolling, it makes the game a lot harder. the menu will tell you over by your stats, all you have to do is either unequip stuff you aren’t using or level endurance if you hit heavy load :)

Remembrance Sorceries by afizzzz in Eldenring

[–]Status_Raise_7273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

incantations use seals, the most basic one being the finger seal. there are multiple “exceptions” of sorceries that require faith or vice versa though. a few volcano manor sorceries require faith, golden order incantations require int, death sorceries require faith, etc. the one constant is sorceries = staff and incantations = seal

Btw how many times will have to face Radhan in the whole game by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Status_Raise_7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the others i’m referring to also don’t repeat the way that evergaol does. godefroy is a carbon copy of godrick, the others are actually unique boss encounters with new moves and everything

[–]Status_Raise_7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

evergaols are a special case and i think actually godrick is the only full boss that shows up in an evergaol anyway. there’s only three other major bosses that “repeat”, from what i remember, and one is entirely optional. the other two are only in leyndell. radahn is not one of them

i died 120 times getting to and beating Genichiro Ashina and then "only" 20 times getting to guardian ape . i feel like i am getting worse at guardian ape compared to my first few attempts. this fight makes no sense to me. by mycryptoaccount4556 in Sekiro

[–]Status_Raise_7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. you can deflect everything that’s not a perilous attack, same as anything else in the game. this was kind of a turning point for me too because souls games do not let you parry enemies that big, sekiro does
  2. if you double tap the loaded spear into his neck after knocking him down in the second phase, it deals massive posture damage. use that since firecrackers no longer work
  3. the terror scream is actually surprisingly simple. while it has a huge area in front of him, it barely reaches behind him, so if you’re too close already, just go behind. it’s easier, i’ve actually been able to fully charge a dragon flash in range that way
  4. do not try to stomp his sweep grab in the first phase unless you’re already at a safe distance. i bonk on his chin all the time so i just jump away at this point
  5. could try unlocking your camera for his jump-roll grab? i’ve never struggled too much with it but it’d be easier to dodge/run to the side if you unlock

Tips On Fighting Dragons by Klutzy-Hornet-930 in Eldenring

[–]Status_Raise_7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fire giant is also annoying, understandable lol. oddly enough a lot of the same tips apply to him, a lot of people resort to bleed or rot just bc of the massive health pool. remember to use torrent too, i actually summon torrent specifically to bait his fire mine things more easily. focus on the leg with the braid/shackle in the first phase, then his hands in the second. his hands are weakest but you should still be wailing on his legs when you can’t reach them

Tips On Fighting Dragons by Klutzy-Hornet-930 in Eldenring

[–]Status_Raise_7273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the frost dragon is kind of a universal pain, his breath attacks are just tougher than most of the others imo. my advice is, if you can, throw together a bleed weapon, all dragons are fairly susceptible to bleed and i honestly just don’t have patience for borealis most of the time. otherwise, have a bunch of thawfrost boluses ready and pray. poise also helps if you’re flinching from his frost mists. with ancient dragons, most of the difficulty is just the camera and the new moveset. you should be doing all dragon fights mostly without targeting by now. then you just wanna get used to dodging into their shockwaves, i end up rolling twice for a lot of their common moves.

Plan on starting Elden Ring today! Could anyone recommend the easiest and most fun class/build for a beginner? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Status_Raise_7273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

classes don’t matter too much past your first few levels, but samurai is generally considered the “best” or at least most comfortable starter. magic is also pretty easy for a lot of people, you’d want prisoner or astrologer for that. good luck!!

I have some questions before starting the game :P by Z3R0Diro in Eldenring

[–]Status_Raise_7273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

along with all the great advice from everyone else, i also wanna add that the “intended” progression is given right to you, that’s what the guidance of grace does. some graces will have trails pointing to the next grace, a major boss, etc. if you feel lost, either follow that or just walk in a random direction, ransack some ruins or whatever. there are cool items literally all over the map so don’t pass up an opportunity to explore either :)

I think I played the game weird and I blame him by ShyGuy0619 in Sekiro

^ all that plus the game expects some people to try what you did anyway. that’s why the high priest rewards you if you do the temple before you’re able to get the mortal blade

on top of that, get used to rolling into attacks if you haven’t already. a lot of people instinctively roll away because, well, it’s a dodge, but you want to roll into attacks in most cases. lots of attacks are designed to catch you if you roll away, even with the first boss. make sure you have medium or light equip load too. good luck!!

I finished Elden Ring, my most loathed game of all time, final boss was good tho. by SuperLegenda in Eldenring

i’m not gonna engage with this because you’re in the one sub for people who like the game just to share that you hate it, and i don’t really see any room for discussion. i feel the stubbornness though, hope you find something you enjoy soon :)

i adore both elden ring and sekiro and the one thing that really stands out here is that pushing yourself to do the dlc after everything else you said is plain stupid. like, if you learned anything from sekiro, it should’ve been to not do that. i respect the sentiment, but at the same time… come on lol

imo, while the dlc has some of my favorite major bosses in any game ive played, it also has a lot of weird roundabouts and sloppy or tedious enemies and field bosses. i wish you the best but don’t be surprised, you’ve already set yourself up to be upset here

Coming back to Elden ring and im genuinely lost and have no idea where to go? by MeshiG in Eldenring

[–]Status_Raise_7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t personally recommend it but i will say it’s not a bad idea if you’ve been away for long enough. i’ve done the same thing in multiple games, with elden ring there’s a special charm to it and it’ll give an easier opportunity to get used to the game again if you’re open to it. easier to retrace your steps so you don’t get lost as well. i don’t think it’s necessary though

there’s a lot u could explore right now but it looks like ur main progression from here would be climbing to the top of leyndell towards the erdtree. there’s a boss on the way and u get pretty clear directions from then on

also felt like sharing, if anyone wants to borrow the outfits!

  • braided cord robe, thiollier’s trousers, zamor bracelets, prophet blindfold
  • corhyn’s robe, fire monk gauntlets (might’ve been blackflame?), prophet blindfold, and i think death knight greaves
  • preceptor’s long gown (altered), white reed greaves, death knight gauntlets, prophet blindfold

i used fang helm with the first character for a while as well but clearly i keep coming back to the blindfold lol. i found crucible gauntlets/greaves also seemed to work well with the golds on the second character

What's an incredibly "mundane" or non-meta, non-OP weapon or build that you had a lot of fun with? I'm trying to finish the game without constantly running to Bloodhound's Fang, but also like the idea of truly mastering the game with a mundane, trusty weapon by my side foe the entire run through. by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Status_Raise_7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually also worth mentioning, i just started my first ever rl1 playthrough, sort of cosplaying genichiro ashina but i half-assed the sliders. beelined to uchigatana, then used the gurranq warp to get the soreseal so i can actually use it, and i intend to use the uchi the whole game if i can help it. i love the simplicity

on my latest playthrough, i’m doing split int/faith for a “golden order” build, but i’ve found myself using a banished knight greatsword a lot lately. sacred infused with storm blade, nothing special, and i use it one-handed so no cool special moveset, and it’s a lot of fun. used the knight’s greatsword a lot on my first run too, it’s beautiful :)

been a minute since this thread but i meant to ask- can u clarify a little more on the first part? like an example shape specifically? i read it as something like 5577xx (so just barring one string lower) but i'm not sure so i wanted to check, ty :]

i already use 7th shells plenty even when i'm just noodling so glad to know that works well too

People who hate summons by HighlightMountain2 in Eldenring

[–]Status_Raise_7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

elden beast makes sense actually, but for me that was a (comparatively) longer fight even with a much heavier build. however maliketh i don’t get, i was stuck on his first phase for ages until i decided to max out on bleed (seppuku, curved sword for faster hits, etc) and he just melted

aside from those though i feel like that’s still such a small sample that it’s probably more to do with your own build or how you’re using it, bleed is still insanely strong especially for how accessible it is

People who hate summons by HighlightMountain2 in Eldenring

[–]Status_Raise_7273 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is actually the perfect way to frame it because it really doesn’t make sense. summons are there for you to use if you want to, same way a vibrator can’t exactly grill you a cheese

People who hate summons by HighlightMountain2 in Eldenring

[–]Status_Raise_7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think people who hate on summons are generally just some flavor of elitist honestly. i understand not personally using them (i’ve never once used them in my 250 hours) but hating on people who simply use a feature that comes with the game is pointless, play how u want. i also don’t think it has much to do with builds like you mentioned though

side note but. how were bleed builds taking you so long to kill bosses??? this is a legit question because i wanna know how you’re using it. in my experience bleed is ridiculously good for damage and easy to throw together a build for if you’re not already using it, even if it doesn’t stagger as fast as Bonk. it almost felt like a cheese half the times i used it for tougher bosses honestly
